    Robert Palmer

    To All Robert Palmer fans

Today Robert Palmer died of a heart attack in Paris this morning... he was 54. :(

Although I wasn't a huge fan of him... I was really into and bought the song "Every Kinda People" Roberts best year was in 1986 at the peak of his career... I liked his video's very much... I especially liked his remakes of Cherrelle's hit "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On" & The Systems "You Are In My System" (forgot about this one)!

    R.I.P. Rob :(

Sad news indeed. He was a great singer and the video of Addicted To Love was an absolute classic. 54 is a shocking age to die of a heart attack.

    Two short asides.
I have a white label with blue handwriting on it of Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley that was a personal gift from someone who was very involved with Island Records at the time.

Just about 10 days ago I had what will probably be my last game of Pitch and Putt this year at a local course. The guy who handed me my clubs was Don Shinn, an excellent keyboard player who was in Dada with Robert Palmer and Elkie Brooks. Just shows you how life can be so different for two people caught up in something, in the same moment. One went on to be international superstar, another a well respected chantreuse, and the other earns peanuts (in the summer at least) as a municipal employee. However, the latter at least, is still breathing and may live to 80. C'est la vie.

Oh, check out the age of Ned Lieben (EBN) when he died, he even left a 2-yearold son behind.

    ...

Falco died at 40 in a SportsUtilityCarMeetsBus car-death-kill.

Another caraccideath (new word, I know - just made it up) is Peter Slaghuis.

    C'est la vie.
Robbie Nevil. What have I won?

Don't tell me he is dead too?

Why can't time take all the ones that we could do without, like all the boybands, Pete Burns, Michael Bolton, Elton John, Samantha Fox, Sinitta, Sabrina, McCartney and so on and get to keep people like Cobain, Lennon, Zappa, Miles Davis, Willie Dixon and Rory Gallagher for that matter.

I hope Jona Lewie isn't dead, that would really **** me up.

I think Paul Hardcastle is still making music.

Rick Astley should come back and put that voice to good use. Just the same Boy George should never think of doing just that.

Adam Ant and Billy Idol are sort of inbetweens.

I guess we could do without Rod Stewart, since disco caught on he has been doing a quality limbo - bar lowered every album, only I hate to think where we'd be without him, he does the sinking better than all the rest. Combined.
At least he doesn't seem to take himself seriously.
Blondes have more fun... ...or do they?

    -breiler, shallow greetings.

Oh, I was laughing when I was reading this. Your timing couldn't be better, breiler. Over here on the tube ("tube" is USA slang for television) for the past few weeks they have been promoting mercilessly his As Time Goes By: The Great American Songbook II cd. I didn't even know about the first one (It Had To Be You: TGASB) and from what I've heard I'm thankful. I know he's gotten some good reviews but I'm with those fans who think he sounds like he took five-too-many valiums. I guess he's still sinking...

Robert Palmer is a great loss :( I was very much a fan and was sad when I heard that news. We have lost alot of great people as of late. I agree about all the good are going. Also, im glad to see someone mentioned Falco. Falco is one of my alltime fave artists and that was very shocking and sad when that happened. Could go on about his great music but that would be off subject of this thread.
