    Important: Major Site News

    Hi everyone,

Major changes are coming to DiscoMusic.com and I wanted to keep everyone informed as to what's going on.

The site will go through a complete and total change. It's not just window dressing folks. Working as hard and as fast as I can to get it ready by October.

The new site will be interactive and offer members the ability to add their records to the Disco Records Vault A-Z, CDs and stories as well as leave comments and reviews on the above. As with the forum you'll need to register first and sign in.

Since the forum and main site are seperate I ask that everyone use the exact same username and password as they now use for the forum. Please make a note of your current forum username and password as you will need it to register for the new site. Do not e-mail me as I do not have that info.

REPEAT: When the new site goes on-line, please register using the EXACT username and password that you use for the forum. This will be very important as I hope to merge the member info at some time in the future.

I'll try to post a quick sneak peak if possible, but don't hold me to it.

I should have realized that as soon as I approach 1000 post and I graduate my member, you would change it Bernie. LOL
So does this mean we all start from scratch...again?

    Hi Paul,

Lots of great things coming in the new site and no, you won't start from scratch as far as the forum is concerned. The forum will remain esentially the same it's just that you will have to log in to the main site as well. This is why it is IMPORTANT that everyone register for the new site with the same EXACT username and password. Stay tuned...

Cool. Looking forward to the future changes especially the A-Z interactive as I've got a lot of great records to add to the list. Can we can include pictures of the albums/singles too? And are we allowed to include 7 inch singles?

    Hi FunkyDude,

Good seeing you around again. I'd love for you to add your records to the Vault. It will be very extensive featuring 12 inch, 7 inch and LPs. There will also be a sister Vault for CDs. If you have scans of the labels then you will be able to submit those as well.

I'm trying to shoot for a weekend launch or at latest sometime next week. Stay tuned.

I just linked over from my Favorites list to see if the site was up. You just blew me totally away. Extremely cool. I've got to take time and give this bad boy a serious once-over. Great job, Bernie.

Nice changes, Bernie , the new Logo design is very nice with the ‘hip’ fonts and all, also like the new colors and over all design for the Main page section and the interactive features, but your new forum page layout is taking over precious screen real estate(left side) that requires more ‘scrolling’ to find and read topics and makes long posts text harder to read by bunching up text in long columns, is there a chance of moving the Sponsors links to the top of the page like before and maybe a ‘Jump to’ drop down pane for the Site ‘Categories’ similar to forum one at the bottom?
I‘ve observed other forums using this design and when ever visitors makes any forum selection it always takes you to the top of the page forcing scrolling and maximizing Sponsors banners’ exposure, some even cover half the screen with sponsors banners but once you scroll down and through this section and reach the posting area the forum itself covers your screen side to side producing IMO a better navigation environment for posting and reading.

Thank you everyone! I'm very happy the redesign has been received positively. I got to bed at around 2:30am and was looking forward to the feedback.

The site only went live around midnight and in just a few hours I've received a bunch of new record submissions for the Vault and several official artists website links. I'm drowning in here, but I have most new subs already up. I envision it taking about 24-72 hours before you see your submissions on the site so please bare with me. Please make sure that you have the record or CD in front of you when submitting info. Do NOT submit anything from memory!!!

I hope to continue adding record label and cover scans to all my entries. Currently I am only up to the "B's." You are encouraged to explore the site fully and participate by leaving comments, submitting records/cds... and most importantly letting me know of any problems you might encounter. I'll look into any concerns, but please understand I have my hands full and my eyes are killing me from all this computer work since I have a severe vision disability. The vision thing is also why I am sometimes (okay all the time) slow to complete things and miss obvious typos... Thanks for understanding.

I must stress... that everyone please take a moment to register for the main site using the EXACT same username and password that you've been using for the forum. Also, please try to fill in your profile completely and include your location (City, State, Country) in your profile. At the very least your country.

Once again thanks for the feedback, but more importantly for making the site the vibrant place that it is through your participation. It's YOU who should be thanked. Thank you!

Impressive... I just submitted my first record for the A-Z section. I hope it grows to make a good alternative choice to AllMusic.com, which is good but have too many blanks on the genre (given they cover ALL kinds of music). This is where a fansite can walk over undiscovered ground...
Thanks for give us the opportunity to make our own database. And keep up with the good work!

Bernie: Congrats on a major update and re-styling. The site has a much more modern feel to it now. Can't say I like the typeface in the logo, but hey that's the only typographical design matter that irritates (grumpy old) me.
I use 800X600 resolution on my screen and this is causing major problems. I don't want to go to 1026 or whatever the next step up is, 'cos it makes everything on my computer that much more difficult to read. My problem, I know.

    Bernie:

I've been having a problem with the site during the last 2 months. Everytime I try to open a page I get a msg that says: "There has been a time execution error. Do you want to depurate?Line: 2 or 1. Error: Syntaxis error." Before you redesigned this error also appeared on the forums.

Now after the redesign I only get it on the site and not the fourm. How can I fix this problem or what's going on?

    Thanks.

    Voyage :P

Thanks again everyone for the kind words and comments. Still working onsome bugs and adding content. Just a heads up that label scans have been added to all entries in the Disco Records Vault A-Z for letters A-E.
