Greg: A great film, if maybe difficult to fully get into if you're not really into scratching (like me). It did tend to come at ya as if the viewer was already au fait with the scene and into it.
You've just got to admire their incredible technique and dedication to their 'art'. Whoever lives with those guys must be driven up the wall.
Forrrce might strongly disagree here, but for my money it is somewhat akin to jazz, in so much as it has stretched the boundaries, can be improvised and ends up challenging perceptions. Is it music........No. Is it musical......Yes.
Whether or not I could go to a gig a listen to it for a whole hour or more, that's a different question.

The timing and dexterity of these guys is incredible. To us non scratchers what they are doing seems almost impossible.

Personally though, I don't consider a turntable a musical instrument in it's own right, like a lot of the scratchers seemed to. Though obviously, it is usefull for comunicating with aliens.
