and buy the DVD, "Disco Inferno" - it is available in PAL and NTSC versions. The picture and sound quality is EXCELLENT (sound options Dolby and DTS 5.1). Some of the selections are "iffy" for a Disco compilation, but there is something for everyone. We need to buy as many as possible to ensure that there will be additional volumes. Obviously, a lot of love was put behind the creation of this disc - the quality is excellent - my only complaint - I would have tweaked the track listing just a little - if they have these videos, imagine what else is out there for future editions.

Go to the website and order the NTSC version - it is region free and should play on any recent DVD model.
I have a standard DVD player (not region free or PAL convertible), and it plays FINE.
I don't care what Amazon says about a November release. It was released in the UK as a NTSC region free on September 2nd.
You will not be sorry!

I have this DVD and I can tell you there are appearances from the German show Musikladen...
However I think is a good disco DVD for disco fans !!!
"However" Hmmmm, Is a good dvd, very decent sound, and I certainly never saw before the Gibson Brothers, Baccara or Imagination performing, but this show had the most boring crowd I've ever seen, they just sat around and don't even acknowledge the artist, they look away and seem to be deaf cause they don't know any of the songs, the most funny part was when Kool and the Gang was doing "celebration" and sings "there is a party going on right here" ... and then they cut to the crowd's frozen long faces...... and Boney M is doing some weird dance and get's tight up taking off his shirt  all and all is worth the price, if not for the clips for the good laughs..Originally Written by Marcodj

Mixmachine,
It sounds like they couldn't even give away tickets to a disco concert.
You mean to tell me that the entire first 5 rows of the concert goers were completely bored? You would figure they would have some kind of appreciation or some enjoyment just to be there.
I also notice **** like that also.
It's not really a concert atmosphere - people in the audience are sitting at tables, but I agree - no one appears to be paying attention or knowing who they are seeing perform. The crowd looks sedated, and I doubt that they would move if a fire alarm went off!
I've seen more life in an Alka-Seltzer. :-?
...ya gotta beat the street......
Hi fellas,
this DVD was released in BRASIL a few months ago, and I bought myself a copy, watched and... returned it immediately to the store. Why? First, all artists except JAMES BROWN (who does a great performance of RAPP PAYBACK, by the way) are doin' playback, they're not playing or singing live. Second, the "clips" are from a german TV show, with lousy visuals. Ok, the chroma-key, "futuristic" clip of FUNKYTOWN is interesting. The best moment of the DVD for me, along with JAMES BROWN's performance, is THE FOUR TOPS "singing" the beautiful DON'T WALK AWAY - I love the group and I love the song. KOOL & THE GANG, GAP BAND, CHIC, SISTER SLEDGE, SUGARHILL GANG, all these are OK, but there's some ridiculous, kitschy moments: IMAGINATION, BACCARA and BONEY M are among the worst performers I ever saw on a TV show (no kidding). If you never saw these artists "performing", do yourself a favor, stay this way and don't watch this DVD.
The sound quality is very good, but the music selection is lousy. The GIBSON BROTHERS' song is probably the worst song they ever recorded. Give me CUBA or OOH WHAT A LIFE instead of this crap, baby.
Peace,
zeca azevedo, I'm doin' my thing, I'm sorry
Yes, it's ALMOST worth buying for the Funkytown bit or the Baccara segement. The rest is just lame. Let's hope the French will soon dig into their vaults and come up with some real eyeopeners - having seen a few during the late 70's I can assure they do have a lot. The Claude Francois dvd has several jawdropping numbers done with fashions and dance moves to die for but the thing is ruined when they cut in modern day dancers MTV-style.
i like the fact that they're miming as you can never recreate that wonderful disco sound outside of the recording studio. Long live lip-syncing I say (as well as Lipps Inc.!)
...ya gotta beat the street......
I got given this with some promo garb a couple of weeks ago and I've just watched it. Yes, both picture and sound quality are indeed striking (some of the tracks are even in stereo, like 'Going Back To My Roots' - you hear the crown applause when Odyssey take the stage. Still, the stereo 'Daddy Cool' was probably dubbed).
The bulk of it I skipped through, but it was still quite a fun viewing. Again, yes...the audiences were one step short of comatose for the most part (rather like those at my gigs) and couldn't look any less interested. And the amount of grannies in some of the clips! But really, the crowds are so bored, it's quite amusing to witness.
Anyhow, it's an entertaining 50+ mins of mature disco cheese (Kelly Marie still hasn't improved) and I've seen it now, so it's off to the second-hand store tomorrow...maybe.
But have a laugh - catch it if you can!
Now if they would dig up and collect actual original music videos these artists made for these songs then it would be worth buying...most of the tracks mentioned do have original music videos..not crappy TV performances...if ya want those TV performances download em on the net..their all over the place LOL.
