    Stacy Lattisaw

I just bought a collection of Stacy's hits. Seems Narada Michael Walden was instrumental in her career and wrote "Let Me Be Your Angel" for her.
What a powerful voice she has!

    Other favorites include:
    "Dynamite"
    "Perfect Combination" (LOVE IT!)
"Love on a Two Way Street" I actually love her version better than the Moments'.

Stacy Lattisaw was probably on of the busiest artists of the early 80s. Rumour has it, her early Cotillion albums were put together in a matter of weeks by Narada Michael Walden.
Whether this is the case or not i don't know but nevertheless, there are still some very good stuff on some of her albums, including the songs you mention.

    Other songs I like is:
    Sneakin' Out (1982)
    Feel My Love Tonight (1981)
    16 (1983)
Nail it To the Wall (1986) - very poppy but i still like it

I wonder what actually happened to Stacy Lattisaw. She seemed to disappear from the face of the earth after her 1989 album :-?

    K-Bee,

I used to play Sneakin' Out and Feel My Love Tonight... back when they first came out in the club I worked at. I believe Feel My Love was the bigger of the 2 if I can recall.

I disagree with Leanmean... concerning Love On A Two-Way Street :-? but then again... I like the older sounds of "Sexy Soul" for me it's like a musical gem. Probably one that's in my Top 20 favorite "killer ballads".

    great list of Stacy's songs...

    add:

    Let Me Be Your Angel
    Dynamite!

Nice choice of tracks guyz. I always really liked the 'Screamin Off the Top' & 'Spotlight' tracks from Stacy's '81 LP. Narada's a total genius IMO.

how do ! Just to say 'The Very Best Of Stacy Lattisaw' is indeed an excellent collection save for one unbelievable oversight - it doesn't include Jump To The Beat' ! Arguably her biggest hit, at least on this side of the Atlantic, it was a UK Top 10 single in 1980. How Rhino neglected to include it is beyond me ! It would be nice to see all of her Atlantic albums reissued on cd.

"Jump to the beat" is definitely my Stacy Lattisaw favourite track, I get tired of "Feel my Love tonight".

Her 'Jump Into My Life' on Motown was quite a funky tune.

This doesn't make sense to me at all....what's the point of releasing a compilation of her work and then staying away from probably the only single that ever crossed over.
Truly a strange world we live in :-?

I think a few of her albums actually made it to the CD format first time around...I have seen some around the stores over here but it may only have been her later efforts on Motown.

    hey guys,

maybe part of the reason is that either no single was released in America or it was a total flop over here.

hello again. A quick check on Amazon revealed that most of Stacy's albums have in fact been available on cd but have been deleted. However, you should be able to pick up 'used' copies on there while we wait - in vain ? - for remastered reissues...

I actually like it when CD compilations don't feature the obvious cross-over hits. You can get 'Jump To The Beat' on any number of tacky mass-market disco compilations so why include it on this classy Stacey comp.? 'Dynamite' was always a classier track IMO.

hi Steely, i agree with you re v/a compilations and i avoid 'em as they usually only include the radio edit.
Don't know if the 12" of 'Jump To The Beat' is available on a compilation but it surely would have made sense to include her biggest single (at least on this side of the Atlantic) on her Rhino retrospective ?

'Dynamite' lives up to its title but would have to take second place to 'Jump' for me - 'go ahead, go ahead..!'
