The only clothing chain I can recall from back then was Bonds or Benhill. Actually, my cousin bought me my first and only pair of Jordache "Disco" jeans at Benhill in the World Trade Center. Still remember that day as if it were yesterday.

I was going to say Alexanders as my next answer, but they are gone so I'll have to say Macys.

Okay, if I'm close then it must have been the store across the street: Bloomingdales?

i cant think of any more hints for this one, so ill just give you the answer.
the clothing store that supplied the famous polyester suit for john travolta was........
    LEADING MALE :P
bernie, when you said alexanders you were close in the fact that there is now a leading male where an alexanders used to be here in brooklyn. (kings plaza shopping mall). by the way if you havent already bought it, buy s.n.f. on dvd its great. it has alot of extras and also a voice over option that lets you hear the director talk over every scene as you watch the movie which is great if you scene the movie a 1000 times and want to know more about every scene.
i hope i put you out of your misery now :P
