    Anyone heard Junior Senior????

I picked up this CD after seeing it raved about in all the recent issues of U.S. magazines.

    Allmusic says:

On "White Trash," Junior Senior says it wants to sing like Nancy Sinatra, play like Stevie Wonder, and "show [it] has balls" like the New York Dolls, ambitions that would be more ridiculous if they didn't so accurately describe the Danish band's sound. Just as their Swedish counterparts, the Cardigans, once built clever pop songs on elements of bubblegum and lounge, Junior Senior makes dance music by mashing together disco, Prince-style electro-funk, '60s psychedelia, and garage rock. The results are goofy but undeniably exhilarating. D-D-Don't Don't Stop the Beat clocks in at a frenetic 32 minutes, leaving listeners little time to notice that its lyrics lack the jaded sophistication of the Cardigans' First Band on the Moon. "Come on in, hang your coats/Eat our chips, we've got loads" is a typical sentiment, and most of the songs seem to be about the fact that pint-sized mastermind Junior is into girls, while the giant Senior prefers boys. In other words, this stuff isn't likely to make you any smarter, but then, you don't need smarts to "shake your coconuts." You just need willing coconuts, though a giddy day-glo masterpiece like D-D-Don't Don't Stop the Beat helps a lot. — Daniel Browne

I guess I liked it. Sounded like Saturday morning cartoon dance rock (the new millenium Archies???) to me. But it's getting raaaaaves in all the mags.

    Your thoughts?

    hi marky.

I really like that DON'T STOP track!
It's a supercool funk-disco track, and it sound a bit like the young Michael Jackson! I even got the 12" of it.
Oh and you can find the fantastic videoclip right here:

    BUT! :-?
I've heard the full album and apart from that Coconut track, the rest of the album stinks!
Most of the songs are some very energetic rock-and-roll kinda tracks song in a badly pronounced English by 2 crazy Swedish guys. It clearly not my cuppa tea

    Marky,

Just curious: When they say "D-D-Don't Stop the Beat" clocks in at 32 minutes, is that the entire CD or the song?

    Nicky...

That's the length of the entire CD. The single and CD have the same title. The songs are mostly in the 3:30 length area.

It's a weird pairing--the younger guy (Junior) is skinny & straight and the one year older guy (Senior) is a chubby gay guy. I saw a picture where they were eating next to each other and Junior had a small burger and a few fries, while Senior had everything SUPERSIZED!!!! Cracked me up. Senior says he likes the guys in the old Joe Gage 1970's pornos---how can ya not like a 20-something who says stuff like that?

Suppose I don't have to tell you that Junior Senior are huge over here, sitting comfortably at the top of almost every chart!

They are the most unlikely couple i've seen in quite some time.
    There was life after disco!!
