It's from the 'Bustin' Loose' soundtrack (1980) - can't remember who produced it, though! Marcus Miller did a version in '83 - both his and Roberta's came out on 12".
I need some help!!!
Who produced the disco tune "Lovin' You (Is Such An Easy Thang To Do)" by Roberta Flack ???
Very good instrumental part (bass + guitar).
Thanks !!!
marcio

What would you do without your muesli...where would you be without a bowl?
The entire Bustin' Loose soundtrack was produced by Roberta Flack. Marcus Miller wrote "Lovin' You (Is Such An Easy Thing To Do)". Both, along with others, are credited with Rhythm Arrangements and Vocal Arrangements go to Roberta Flack and Luther Vandross.
I recently listened to the "Bustin' Loose" soundtrack again after many years...and the cut that kills me is a sleazy track called "Hittin' Me Where It Hurts" that coulda, woulda, shoulda been a great sleaze cut. :D
"You're hittin' me where it hurts (great bass/ percussion/ cowbell riff) right on the heartache" ( I loves me some cowbell!!!)
Anyone remember this one? I never heard it played anywhere...probably needed a remix ...but it's damn sexy.![]()
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
I was playing this yesterday as a matter of fact. Sounded better than I remembered. My fave cut has always been "Qual E Malindrinho (Why Are You So Bad)". Not a club piece, just love that soft jazzy feel it has.
You're right about "Hittin' Me...". Could a been a great sleaze piece but I never used it either which is strange for me.
I've been looking for this album for a while precisely for that cut. I think it's great as it is. It's pretty mellow, but playable in a club, I think. Besides, it's just a great song.Originally Written by markydefad
Wow, ladyboygrimsby, that is soooo cool that you like this track too!!!! Sometimes you think you're the only one who digs these obscure tracks that no one ever mentions and did not chart anywhere. I liked that cut "Hittin" Me Where It Hurts" from the get-go back in tha day. I put it on a sleaze tape...I think there was an obscure Earth, Wind & Fire track called "I Wanna Be With You" right near it. And a Commodores cut "Been Loving You" from their 1981 LP "In The Pocket" and lotsa other sleeeeeaaaze. :P
I guess the "Bustin' Loose" LP is outta print...don't think there was ever a 12". Too bad cause most of the LP holds up.

Marky,
That EWF track you talk about....is that the same "Wanna Be With You" as the one on their 1981 "Raise" album (that also has "Lets Groove on it :) ) ? I love that track sooo much :D
About "Lovin' You", i'm more than happy to hear that Roberta Flack did it too. I do like Miller's version though (you can't find a better intro than on that version!! :) )...but a good singer he most definately ain't
Talking of obsure or under-rated tracks by well-known artists (we were, weren't we? :-? ), I always liked the Tavares track from '81/'82 'Turn Out the Nitelite' which is slow & not commercial but very classy & I never got around to buying it so I always look on tavares compilation CDs for it but it's never featured  (I'm pretty sure it was released as a single).
...ya gotta beat the street......
Yep, K-Bee...this is the same track. It was 1981 and I was feelin' the sleeeeeeeeaze. :P Another track on that tape was "Boy" from the Chas Jankel LP. Sung in a falsetto..."I just want your love... BOY....I just want to FUNK... BOY" -- Odd track, yet very sleeeeeeeeazy. :DOriginally Written by K-Bee

Marky,
Funny you should mention Chas Jankel. I recently bought the infamous album and i'm really having a hard time seeing what all the fuzz was about. Apart from "Ai No Correida" I don't really get why this guy was praised so much.
Steely,
I have a tavares compilation that has "Turn out The Nightlight" on it:
Here's the details of that album:
Tavares - "Whodunit" (2002, Pure Gold / Disky Communications GO 793562)
It is pressed in the Nederlands so it maybe a mainland Europe only release.
Surprisingly, the album leaves out the obvious Tavares hits in favour of the more funky stuff like "Loveline". I'm glad it does though...the last thing we need is more releases with "More Than A Woman" and "Heaven Must Missing An Angel" on them.
