    Trivia From The Goddess 2

Hi everyone! Let's see how The Brainiac Crew does with this set of questions:

    1) First up is your Discomusic.com SAT-style question:

_______ is to Rufus as The Beatles are to Wings.

    2) "Sugar-Coated" Andy Hernandez had success post-Doctor Buzzard under what moniker? Extra credit if you remember his big hit under that name.

    3) Liquid Gold's Ellie Hope was a member of which British rock group?

    4) What is Don Ray's real name?

    5) Vickie Sue Robinson's "Nighttime Fantasy" and Gloria Gaynor's "Love Is Just A Heartbeat Away" were introduced on which film soundtrack?

    6) Here is a GODDESS ASS-KICKER QUESTION: In the theatrical disaster known as "Got Tu Go Disco", many may remember that Irene Cara played the Cinderella-ish lead character. Who played the evil stepmother?

    7) Which TV/Stage/Film luminary appeared on D.C. Larue's "Forces Of The Night" album? Not-so-helpful-Goddess hint: The album also had Paulino da Costa playing percussion on one track.

    8. Ron Dante of Dante's Inferno ("Fire Island") wrote songs for which Saturday morning cartoon show?

9)....and now, because we love it so much: it's the NON-MUSIC-RELATED 70'S PORN QUESTION! Which prominent, commercially successful comtemporary director was the cinematographer of the 70's porn classic "Sometime Sweet Susan" (as well as several other NYC-based Jamie Gillis thingies)?

    10) What the heck.....here's one more. True or false: Sugary, smiley, rather plain-looking TV actress Pat Finlay, who played Bob Newhart's sister on "The Bob Newhart Show", and Joe Santos' wife on "The Rockford Files", was actually a 70's porn queen.

#3 --Ellie Hope was in a group called Babe Ruth. I only know this because The Goddess mentioned their version of "The Mexican" a long, long time ago...in another galaxy. :D

Marky, m'love, good to see that you're paying attention! A couple of the questions have been inspired by threads/posts that I've made in the past.

You guys are really tearing through this quiz....gonna have to make the next quiz incredibly hard.

    2) JJ, well done on the Coati Mundi.....thought that one would have been fairly easy, and it wasn't.

    9) JJ......'fess up. You listed Saul Casella as the "Sometime Sweet Susan" cinematographer, which is correct.....but do you who "Saul Casella" is? "Saul Casella" is a nom de plume. 'Fess up, did ya do an IMDB search on that one? The answer isn't on IMDB...."Saul Casella" is a phony name for a Hollywood biggie (and it will be a head-slapper when I reveal the answer). Here's a nebulous Boodi-hint: he's a "family" man (interpret that any way you want to).

Ya know, I think I'm metamorphosing into Ted Casablancas......sheesh!

JJ, you actually have a copy of "Sometime Sweet Susan"? Brother, YOU ROCK! Don't be ashamed of getting your 70's porno groove on! That's how we roll in Brooklyn!

Here's another not-so-helpful hint on #9: the same NYC crew also made the infamous "Defiance (Of Good) with Fred J. Lincoln ("Last House On The Left"). It's a damn shame if you can't guess who this "family" man is. "Saul Casella" is a big man in his field!

Regarding the "family man" director...I doubt if "Family Man" director Brett Ratner could have lensed the porno since he was born in 1970......

Hmmm...I wanted to say Chris Columbus...but he was a writer...

Oh, what about Barry Sonnenfeld???!!! He was a cinematographer for the Coen Brothers before directing himself. Is is Barry???

So a quick trip to imdb reveals that Pat Finley who I remember from playing "Twinks" on "Mary Tyler Moore" is listed as having done an adult film called "Coming Attractions" in 1976.

Are we sure this is the same actress????

Pat Finley was billed as Pattie Finley and as Spring Finlay, according to imdb. BUT, sometimes, they screw up. We repped an old character actress in NY called Marilyn Cooper and apparently Sabu was married to a Marilyn Cooper and they had their credits combined. I see that now they've separated the credits ...but my boss thinks imdb can't be trusted because of that little snafu.

Well, Marky, we know that IMDB can screw up royally: witness my 2-year battle with them to get the Dennis Parker/Wade Nichols situation straight, as well as Elizabeth Kaitan/Betsey Johnson straight, as well as Steve James being an extra in "Arthur", and on and on.......

But Pat Finlay was INDEED in "Baby Doll" in 1976 (I remember seeing her in it), as well as a few other porn films, thereafter.....seems like she hit hard times after "Rockford". Consider another question to be answered correctly!

You guys are KILLING The Goddess! This is blasphemy, no doubt.......

    6) Well, I asked around my office and actually found a guy who saw "Got Tu Go Disco" on Broadway!!!!

He says the Stepmother was that lady that just died from "The District".....so then the answer would be Lynn Thigpen???!!!!

    WOW!

That would be even harder to find than someone who saw "Gigli" in a theatre!

Yep, and the guy who saw "Got Tu Go Disco" is the most unlikely person of all. I just recalled him saying that he had seen it--for some stupid reason when he and his wife lived in NY.

All he remembers is that it was "AWFUL" and that Bert Convy was in the audience and later he and his wife would be on "Tattletales" with Bert. Bert supposedly was standing outside the theater hoping somebody would recognize him. But nobody did. (Except my Lutheran church-going co-worker!!!!)

Your quizzes are a bit too much for me, but about that porn movie (that of course I didn't see) just let me mention that the Coen Brothers have said in a couple of interviews that very early in their career they worked in porn and said that they learned a lot because of the difficulties (lighting, for example) of the genre.
Now, we all know Barry Sonnenfeld was the Coens' first cinematographer. Could it be then... that they were on that flick mentioned by Boodi the Goddess? Any "Chorizo Brothers" on that credit list?
It don't mean a thing (if ain't got that swing)

Nano, it's possible that the Coens were involved in those mid-70's porn "classics". Sonnenfeld says that though he found porn film production "unerotic", he learned a great deal doing them. Many legit directors/cinematographers started out in the adult field, including talented types such as Laszlo Kovacs (sp).
