If you could get hold of the record that is at the top of your most wanted list, right now, what would it be??
This is a topic I brought up about a year ago, but I always find it interesting to see what fellow members (especially all the newer members) are after.
At the moment, I would like to get my hands on an obscure (so it seems) Prelude track that certainly did the business in my neck of the woods, but I cannot get hold of it anywhere. Hustle Busstop by Mastermiond. It was around in 1978 and was a party kind of record with a great driving funky beat. My friend in 78 bought it on an import 7" I remember....
I have been looking in record shops rather than using the web, so maybe it is time for me to extend my search on-line.
And another obscurity that nobody ever seems to mention, and I have never seen on vinyl :( was Paulette Reeves and Jazz Freak. A truly wonderful loping jazzy soulful record that I would dearly love to get my hands on.
Jazz, here's a few that I can think of... that would make my day...
Shake It Up - Rod (Prelude)
Got Myself Together - Bucketheads
Dynamic Corvettes - Funky Music Is The Thing (7") Abet 9459 I should be getting this in about 1 week 8)
Just about anything that Quinny has been talking about the last month.... cause I haven't heard any of them...
Stylistics - Hey Girl, Come & Get It (12") if it even exists...
I'll settle for the LP
Crown Heights Affair - Dreaming A Dream (De-Lite 2017)... cause I'm dying to know if a vocal version of it exists on that LP... I have a 7" single... and It has a short vocal... I wonder if anybody can help me out on this... because, I might be wasting my time... It might just be the instrumental version...
Faith, Hope & Charity - Faith, Hope & Charity (RCA Victor 1100)
Fatback - Raising Hell (Event 6905) a release before they joined the Spring Label
Ohio Players - Fire/Skin Tight/Honey--- LP's for Mint - covers
Foxy - Get Off (12") so that I can have fun mixing the **** out of it at that instrumental part... I talked about earlier in a thread about a month ago..

CHA: I'd say there probably was an Lp version. I have an Lp version of Foxy Lady on a CD that sucks big time compared to the 7" release (which I beleive was a special remix - one of the very first). Don't know why I never bought any of their LPs 'cos they were an absolute fave for several years.
Fatback: Wasn't Event a subsidiary of Spring? Memory is a little vague. What's on that LP?
Ohio Players: I have Fire & Skin Tight. Yeah, I know what you mean.
Foxy: Surely there are bucketloads of this record hanging around? Your quest for it surprised the hell out of me. It must be more rare than I ever imagined.
As for my own wants list, it's very small 'cos I can't remember what I haven't got, if you know what I mean.
I'd probably like a copy of Glenn Adams Affair - Just A Groove
It would be nice to have a copy of CHA Dancin' b/w Dreaming A Dream Goes Dancin' or whatever it was called. This 'B' side was a revelation at the time, but was actually quite poorly executed.
Sammy Gordon & The Hip Huggers - Makin' Love This just keeps on nagging away in my brain.
A 12" of Wilbert Longmire - Black Is The Color would be a bonus (it does exist doesn't it?)
All these were records I played a lot and I did once have copies of CHA, Sammy Gordon and Glenn Adams.
I just wish there's a record out there that I've never heard that would absolutely blow me away. No new record (to me) I've heard in the past year has quite done that, although a few have given me a very warm glow and made me realise that I must have missed a fair few goodies back in the day.
Mastermind, 'Players, Glen Adams, Sammy Gordon, Paulette Reeves LP (and maybe others) are available from the Forrrce archives...if any of you head to London some time soon, drop me an I.M. 8)
What would you do without your muesli...where would you be without a bowl?

Quinny, I'm not a fool... and I won't waste too much $$$ on stuff I've never heard... but would be happy to see them at a used record store for cheap.. even if it's in vg- to g condition.
Fatback: Wasn't Event a subsidiary of Spring? Memory is a little vague. What's on that LP?
Most likely... (Are You Ready) Do The Bus Stop/Spanish Hustle
Foxy: Surely there are bucketloads of this record hanging around? Your quest for it surprised the hell out of me. It must be more rare than I ever imagined.
I'm not in a major hurry... If I can't wait... I'll go to gemm.com I'd like to find it locally

I'd probably like a copy of [b
EFunk: I have the Fatback LP, but on UK Polydor. Probably played it twice in almost 30 years. Had the singles (7" of Bus Stop being vastly superior than Lp version IMO) which were more than good enough to play.
Two others to add to my list:
Leon Lee - He Was A Man Always loved this funky mover
Lee Eldred - How's Your Love Life? A massive record for me back in '76? or was it '75?
I've lost both of them somewhere.
Wishes:
Ashford and Simpson - Bourgie Bourgie 12" (heard this on the Levan CD, gotta have it)
Hank Ballard & the midnighters - Freak your boom boom 12" (a colleague of mine played
this around '81, unable to find it)
Bootleg mix - Bits and Pieces volume 1, have only vol. 2 ...
Had Jackie Moore - How's your lovelife baby on my list for 20 years, found it this year..:D
And of course all the records i don't know the names of.....
The first track I have on a Disco Spectrum 2 CD. Vinly wise I have no idea.Originally Written by QUINNY
I have a Tappan Zee 12" EP called Turn On The Tap which had four tracks on - the full-length Wilbert Longmire track plus tracks by Mongo Santamaria, Richard Tee and Bob James. Whether the Wilbert Longmire track was on a 12-inch on its own I do not know. That's the closest I can get.
And I also have Raising Hell on UK Polydor - it is somewhat knackered I must say!
Forrrce - I am frequently up in London town (I live to the south of London in the Croydon area) so your offer sounds very interesting. In fact I will be up in the West End tomorrow night. But you didn't mention which tracks are high on your list!
:)
Jazz: ref Wilbert Longmire:
I too have the Turn On The Tap E.P. I also have it on either Bitter Suite Lp or Second Suite?...can't remember. A real 12" of it would be great though.
I've seen Sammy Gordon on that CD. Guess I'll just have to buy it pretty soon if I can.
I think Soul Brother in Putney has a copy of the Mastermind album, if you're interested. I think I Am Music is the best track on the LP, but that one is also on it.
Mine are:
All Night Thing - Invisible Man's Band
The hold up for this is I'm waiting for a price drop on the "Old School Vol. 4" cd.
Loving Is Really My Game - Brainstorm
I want the extended 12" version. I'm a little reluctant to buy vinyl on the net because I'm not sure what condition it really is in and I haven't found that "Mirror Ball" cd.
I'm A Man - Macho
Almost same answer as above except I haven't even seen this on cd.
Rappin' Reagan - ?
I'm not even sure if that's the title. I've heard a couple of versions of this song on some of the cd dealers sites way back when when they used to give a lot of samples. None of 'em sounded like the song I remember. I also bought a vinyl of this song several years ago which wasn't the song I remembered hearing. This one I've just about given up on.
Find them and destroy them!
If at all possible, you want a copy that is *not* from the US. Prelude botched the mastering on this so badly that I'm amazed it got released. The right channel slowly dies over the course of the LP...Originally Written by paul
jazz_pilgrim,
I'm in Soho a lot (sometimes work there). The Mastermind's not in the best of shape, but it's clean (you can have it as a gift). I have long list of records I'd like, but nothing has top priority, or I think not... I'll try to find my wants list.

The Macho track was also re-released as a 3 track Unidisc Classics on Canadian Prelude back to back
with "Fire night dance" and "Walkin on music" (nr Unidisc SPEC1334)
Gave this a spin and it seems to sound as good as it gets, so if you see this grab a copy
