Not all the songs on the list are confirmed oo-oot songs. For instance Bette Midlers MARRIED MEN . Oo-oots on it ?

never mind ..... sho nuff does !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

came up with her own way to both spell and use the disco chant:

    OO OOP OO OOP

    First song on the list:

Roy Ayers/Wayne Henderson - Heat Of The Beat

credit to mixmachine . (as nice as you suggested too)

there are more to mention , so come on all you foxy disco people .

    Hi Remmy,
In that Poussez clip you posted the mix sounds 'odd' to me - kind of phase-shifted/distorted.
    Probably just my ears !!

Also, very briefly, the sound is referenced in Yellow Magic Orchestra's "La Femme Chinoise" from their beautiful, endlessly listenable first self-titled album on Horizon/A&M. IIRC, There is exactly one "Ooh-wah, ooh-wah, ooh," very likely arranged by Luther Vandross in the intro of the non-hit Bette Midler version of "Married Men," a song which had the confidence of enough people to be the crux of a cover fight between Midler and Bonnie "Total Eclipse"/"It's a Heartache" Tyler. No one actually won that fight by getting a hit of any size, IMHO.
skiddly bop doo wow! (Billy Paul) Wake up and live! (Debbie Allen) Ommmm...(Me)
    Bow-chick-a-bow, chick-a-bow-wow-wow!(Hugh Roy)
Pray like it's all up to God, work like it's all up to you.
The only people you need to get even with are the ones who helped you.(Patti LaBelle)
When life hands you lemons, marinate the chicken.(Anne Burrell)

Just listened to this one today--it debuts 6/18/77 in SF.... thought it might be the original "oot-oot"... but looks like you've given that title to Gloria Gaynor's seminal "Never Can Say Goodbye"... I think Michael Zager might have ripped this one off... turns into an "oot-oot" orgy of sound

NEW YORK COMMUNITY CHOIR "HAVE A GOOD TIME" (1977)

    "Lost inside adorable illusion...."

Nice one! ...... perhaps it is the first self-aware oo -oot oo-oot chanting song, intentionally promoting the sound?? ??

    Certainly used in abundance .

Just coming to my mind now's this '77- or '78-sounding piece from '94 by contempo' Christian/soul gospel-marketed sister trio Out Of Eden (whom some of you may remember from an appearance singing their remake of Bill Withers's "Lovely Day" on Moesha), the oot's kicking in at about 1:43...
