Re: The Real Mitt Romney-Wut!
I do plenty of venting on Twitter against the right-wing hypocrites, profiteers and bigots who exploit prejudice and make a living fomenting hatred, so I don't desire to bring it here. But I do believe that the progressive music of the Seventies reflected a post-Woodstock coalition that showed its cultural and then commercial muscle in disco. No surprise that some fat old white ex-disco DJ crusaded against it in a racist way and caused violence against his chosen demonized target. Now we discover a right-wing directive to drive a wedge between African-Americans and LGBTs, using a debased brand of religion. I think the essence of disco is, we're all gonna be equal, a viewpoint that the genius Nile Rodgers says made him the "worst nightmare" of the music biz. I think we should hold America to its myths and promises and pretensions, instead of throwing words like "liberty, " "freedom," " responsibility" and "rights" around in such an ignorant way that they become meaningless.
