Bonnie Pointer "Heaven Must Have Sent You" (The Or

I cannot believe I have never heard the unremixed version of this song until now. While it's very "cute" it's soooo radically different and not at all as instant as the remix. Now I am left to wonder who did the disco mix of which we are all so familiar? :o

It was the other way around for me. I bought Bonnie Pointer's 1st self titled album after taking a chance on and liking the red vinyl single of hers before that, "Free Me From My Freedom". I liked "Heaven Must Have Sent You"'s album version a lot, too, kind of Supremes-ish. Then when I heard it on American Top 40, I wondered what they had done to it. It took awhile for the remix to grow on me, then I liked it and bought the 12" but I preferred the original. As I am not at home now, I can't check the remix credit on my 12 inch but maybe someone else will.

Motown was notorious for not crediting it's remixers, which is the case on this 12". It simply reads, "Heaven Must Have Sent You" (New Version) 5:12, on one side and (LP Version) 6:56, on the other.

The 12" version is NOT a remix. It is a completely new version

Not suprising since according to a Supremes discography listed in Mary Wilson's book, Dreamgirl, this is one of those unreleased Supremes tracks.

Interesting... One day I'll have to play the original lp version. I can't believe I've never listened to it. Never even flipped the 12", which is uncharacteristic for me.
