I just have to mention the Bruce Willis version of the song that he did in 1986 with a little help from the Temptations. It was a surprise hit over here.

One cover version that I have always liked is the Whispers and their discofied version of the Temps My Girl.

An interesting case is Just the way you are

1- Original version by Billy Joel, the piano man.
2- Covered by Barry White (maybe his great hit in Brazil)
3 -Covered by Les McCann (disco-funk!!!). Strings by Paul Riser (Paul Riser already worked with Ashford & Simpson).

How about -Bridge Over Troubled Water- Linda Clifford, 1979, of the old Simon and Garfunkle track. It sounds interesting to hear a ballard sung to a dance / disco beat!

I once bought on spec., two Mary Mundy 12"s on Laurie - one was an unsuccessful Motown cover whose title eludes me at the moment - and the other was 'Those Were The Days'. I though, it no way on God's earth would anyone attempt a disco cover of the Mary Hopkins dance-around-the-maypole hippy barnstormer - but man, I was wrong! My next clear-out was earlier than expected.

    Hey Forrrce,

A disco cover of 'Those Were The Days' would be bizzar to hear. I thought the cover of "Stairway to Heaven" by that European band Far Corporation (1985) was bad enouth  :o Remember that?
