Bob Esty's Contributions to Roller Boogie

Are any of the other cuts save Cher's truly CAMP "Hell On Wheels" worth searching out? I am a fan of Esty;s work but don't know if there's anything on the "Roller Boogie" soundtrack that merits a listen.

I really liked the Mavis Vegas Davis tune. Probably too pop and bubblegummy for most people's tastes in these forums, however. Bouncy happy fun!

I have it but have only played it a couple times...somehow it doesn't quite grab me. I thought the idea of a disco producer covering a Supertramp song was novel. Is this soundtrack valuable now?

ELEKTRONIX (ROLLER DANCIN') / BOBY ESTY & CHEEKS 5:00

what does this track sound like?...I'm thinking this is a song I've been trying to ID on a tape I received from an I-Beam session in 1979....is it vocoder-voice style???

I have to check the lyrics...but "roller dancin'" sounds like a main phrase...
    "Lost inside adorable illusion...."

Yes, it is mostly vocoder in the intro and in the chorus. "Come on come on, everybody rollerdance... Come on come on, everybody's rollerdancin'"
Then a few sexy female oohs and aahs, and then the girls (sans vocoder) sing repeatedly "Everybody rollerdance."
Also has a short "Does your mama know who your with little girl" verse in a non vocoder male voice.

I enjoyed seeing the site and it made me want the LP (If there is the CD, it's better for me). The female dancer on the picture sleeve is Linda Blair of Exorcist fame....

Nice groove there. Sounds like the cream of the LA musicians, like James Gadson on drums.

Wow. I watched the opening credits/"Hell On Wheels" segment, and came to a few conclusions:

    1. As I am not a Cher fan and really can't stand "Take Me Home", I surprisingly kinda like "Hell On Wheels" and it's rock-disco "Hot Stuff"/"Fame" sound.

    2. Definite "EEEW..." factor to the making-out-on-the-dumpster action.

    3. Roller Disco would not be possible today. Most of them would be talking or texting on their cell phones and they'd constantly be falling down, running into each other or getting hit by a bus.
