    "Boy Meets Boy"

Anyone catch the premiere last night on Bravo, the GAY Channel???

This is a "Joe Millionaire" type dating show for GAY GUYS--except some of them "GAYS" are really BREEDERS pretending to be QUEER.

Last night, the lead guy --a 32 year old guy from LA (sorta Chris O'Donnell meets Jason Priestley) and his best female friend (DON"T call her a FAGHAG!!!) met the 15 contenders. They were a motley group--from nerdy to slick--NONE turned me on.

BUT I am curious as to which are the straight guys. 3 were eliminated last night--the only black guy (GAY); a southern Navy guy (GAY) and sorta nondescript guy( BREEDER).

The lead has no idea there are "imposters" amongst the group. Apparently, his final choices contain a breeder or two--much to his alarm!!!

The lead seems sorta smitten with a tall dark-haired guy named Franklin--I'm wondering if he isn't straight????

    Any ideas????

Marky, you're so picky. And don't call me a no standards slut
Oh, I didn't catch the show last night. I've got to get back into a regular TV watching ritual to keep up here.

Colin IS NOT GAY, much to my disappointment.

At least, he's knocking up chicks...so I don't think so.

Well, apparently I'm the only person here watching this show...so I'll tell myself what I thought about last night's show. :P

The guys are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bland.

That said, 3 guys got the boot last night. 1 gay (Marc) and 2 straight (Jim & Paul). I pegged them all. I think that Wes is a breeder also--although he's doin' his best to act gay.

The lead seems still smitten with Franklin (still wondering if he's straight???) , but there's this Matt guy who would look to be a good match (lookswise, anyway).

And that is all I thought. :P

Franklin looks good, but I'm also worried he might be straight!

Marky and Keefe--you know I couldn't stay out of this discussion! (Well, I did have a little encouragement from Marky to get involved. )

I agree that the producers managed to find 15 of the most nondescript guys on the planet, but clean-cut blond 20-somethings have never been my type anyway--not even when I WAS a 20-something.

Whether it's his gaydar or the fact that he's not bonding with some of the guys because they're not gay, I think the way-too-earnest James has done a commendable job of weeding out the straight guys--three of them in just two shows. I've read that there are five straight guys total and I'm CONVINCED one of the remaining two is that smarmy show-off Dan--who's an actor, don't it figure?! (In fact, another Web site's forum states that this is not Dan's first reality show, and on that show--I can't remember the name, "Marooned," maybe?--he kept pretty busy with the ladies.)

I've been trying to pay attention to the pronouns the "mates" use for clues to who's straight, and I think it was telling that when FH Andra asked Dan if he had a boyfriend in New York, he answered, "I do not have a boyfriend in New York" but after that all references to gender turned into vague phrases like "someone special." You remember, guys--those games we used to play before we came out!

I'll keep watching, but frankly I don't care who wins; the whole bunch of them are just so damn boring. (I'm way more interested in the men on two hetero dating shows, "For Love or Money 2" and "Cupid.") The best thing about "Boy Meets Boy" is that it offers yet more visibility for gay people. And the more the general population sees of us, the more comfortable they'll eventually become with us. Well, except for G.W. Bushwhacker and Too Pooped to Pope.

Hey, did anybody else notice the disclaimer at the end of the show? Something about the producers discussing the elimination choices with James, however, James makes the final decision. What's that all about???

Jeff, I noticed those comments between Dan and Andra also. Dan does seem to be trying too hard to convince everyone he's gay. Is it a case of him overacting? I get the sense that James will be booting Dan off soon.

But something is rigged here...cause DAN was the first and only guy James has wanted to boot off the show since the first day...but somehow he's STILL there!!!

Jeff suggested that the producer's made James keep him. This sounds likely to me. They sure like to focus their cameras on him...he seems like an actor who's been planted to be the main purveyor of mischief...so if he was gone, the rest of the show would be tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bland. Therefore, despite James saying he dislikes him each week.....he stays!!!

:D I found a way to get my dose of this show without lamenting over not having BRAVO. Planetout.com gives a superbly written blow-by-blow (no pun intended) of each episode. The writing style is like our very own Marky --- crisp and full of wit. The report on episode three said that, despite his blond highlights and Colgate smile, James got smart and asked Dan to leave. So, Dan is out (pun intended) and now we know that he is straight. (Planetout reveals the sexual orientations of the guys just like Bravo after they are booted off.) Quelle surprise --- Planetout's choice of words, not mine :) . Sound familiar?

So, if you're like me and don't get Bravo, Planetout gives a good read... in more ways than one.

Well, James chose Wes and walked off into the sunset.

He eliminated Brian and rightly pegged Franklin as the"straight guy".

Today I found out a client of ours works with Miss Andra--the friend of James. This client didn't even know Miss Andra had done the show--just came upon a marathon showing on Bravo!!!

    OK, here's the dirt.

Miss Andra is not exactly as portrayed on the show. First off, instead of being the FAGHAG (yeah, I said it) who pines away for the James she can never have....she's actually a FAGHAG who is married with 2 kids. I guess they did mention she was married...but I'd forgotten about that.

Shw works for a company here in LA that sells advertising time to TV and "Used to be nice". BUT, now is sorta "conscending" and , OK, I'll say it...A REAL BEEEEEAAATCH. :P

There was some story about how no one could call her on her phone at work for several days and it was because she had tooo many electrical appliances plugged into her outlets. Her own refrigerator and a curling iron were some of the items that were mentioned. Her curling iron???!!!!

Hey Mark, you're home already??? That was a quick trip!

Anyway, before the hag Ms. Andra gets too snooty, she should read what TV Guide Online said about her yesterday.

"BOY MEETS WES: James's gaydar didn't steer him wrong on last night's finale of Bravo's gay dating show Boy Meets Boy. The 32-year-old benefits administrator wisely chose gay Wes over straight infiltrator Franklin ó who was only posing as gay to win $25,000. Instead, James gets the $25,000 and a trip to New Zealand with Wes. James's galpal Andra, meanwhile, wins a one-way ticket to the loony bin."

By the way, I'm glad most of us found out our gaydar continues to work. Didn't we all predict Franklin was straight a loooooong time ago?
