    Gary's Gang

Formed in Queens, New York, U.S.A.

The brainchild of Gary Turnier in New York, Gary's Gang were a small group of musicians who recorded live in a friend's garage.

It was here they made their debut single 'Keep On Dancin' which sold half a million copies around the world and was a UK Top 10 hit (1978).

It was co-written by Eric Matthew and released in the U.K. by CBS (licensed from Sam Records).

Their CBS follow-up was 'Let's Love Dance Tonight' (UK Top 50,1979).

In 1982 they returned with 'Knock Me Out' (UK Top 50) for Arista before Eric Matthew wrote and produced 'Makin' Music' for the Radar Records label in 1983.

In 1990 'Keep On Dancin' was remixed by Hollywood Impact, and released by BCM Records in the UK.

They released a couple of albums on the US Columbia label before recording for Radar. I don't think there is an album including "Knock me out".

Does somebody know The Fat Larry's Band ?

I've got a copy of the 1977 album: OFF THE WALL > on STAX records.

And in fact for a STAX record this is quite funky. "Castle of joy" and "in the pocket" are super!

    Champagne and kaviaar

    gotta use your mastercharge

    takes up all credit cards

    at the castle of Joy

    Oh Boy!

I've heard another album of them that was better than mine, but I can't remember the name or label?

    Anyone got a clue?

I've heard of Fat Larry's Band. I remember a couple of songs around 1979/1980 that had moderate club play. They are "Lookin' For Love" and Here Comes The Sun." My favorite and most played song at the disco was Lookin' For Love.
    Find them and destroy them!

I've heard of this disco/funk group name a few years back when I was discovering there's more to disco than "Stayin' Alive" or "YMCA". The main song I know from Fat Larry's Band is "Center City" from 1976, I love that song it's one of my disco favourites. I'll have to check out the other songs of this group that you guys mentioned in this post.

seems that few people here know the great FLB!!!

They did such great CLASSICS like:

    "Center city" in 1976

"Boogie town" and "Lookin for love" in 1978

    "Party after midnight" in 1981

"Act like you know" in 1982

They disbanded after Larry James's death in the mid 80s
