Started up petition to help gay men in Cameroon
Hey everyone. This is my first time posting in this section of the website...apart from disco, one of the things that interests me most is international gay and lesbian human rights. I am always reading African news stories and am always finding myself upset by them. So I have joined forces with a couple of people from America and Canada and we are going to put our heads together to see if we can try and do something to help. Our first task is the recent case of three men being sentenced to five years in Yaounde, Cameroon for being perceived to be gay. The homophobia in that country is outrageous and there is really one one woman, Alice N'knom, who is representing them..but in doing so, her life is in danger. We have set up a petition on Change.org (am I allowed to link that here?) which you'll find under the title of UN Secretary-General: Negotiate Unconditional Release of Men Imprisoned For Being Gay. If you want to read and sign, that would be great. Otherwise, thanks anyways. Is anyone else on here interested in this area?
