    Whatever Happened To... ULLANDA MCCULLOUGH

    Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone can give me any current information on ULLANDA MCCULLOUGH..
She made 2 great albums in the early 80's, and a great single called "Rock Me"..
I have the vinyl, but have not heard anything about her in years..
    Any ideas??

Thanks in advance..you are all terrific!
    JJ

hi JJMELODY i think that was it,ullanda was more of a backing singer really, she backed loads of big names mainly ashford and simpson and had a long career doing that, funnily i was playing one of her tracks in my car last week "bad company" the bad company being herself after a breakup, i played it over and over as i havnt heard it for ages a great song :P

"Bad Company" is indeed a great song..as a matter of fact, I love both of the albums I have by her. I had seen her name on a lot of credits as a backup vocalist, but that was a long time ago..Haven't heard anything about her since..

    Thanks for responding...

I am very happy you came up with "Bad company". Such a great song!!!!!! A classical Ashford&Simpson track, with great soulful vocals, and a fantastic melody.
Definitely one of my early 80s fave.
I know that Ullanda made a lot of TV commercial and contributed background vocals for almost everyone

When Ullanda released "Rock Me" she was hoping for big things but she said very realistically at the time, "If it doesn't work out, I make a damn good living making commercials." She wasn't hung up about becoming a "star" and she knew how lucky she was to be in demand as a background singer. And as much as I love "Rock Me", "Bad Company" is the cut.

BTW --- Ullanda has three albums, the two on Atlantic and one on Ocean Records from 1979 titled, "Love Zone".

The Divine Ms. McCullough is even more so, now - she's preaching the word. She's now an author and (if this is right) is now Ullanda Innocent(!).

I may have gotten this wrong, but the above article is told from Ms. Innocent's perspective and she tells of Ullanda McCullough going out on stage, as well as doing TV and ad work, so I just assume this is the same Ullanda.

'Bad Company' & 'Warm And Gentle Explosion' are the Ullanda tunes for me.

I don't have the lp, just one promotional 12" so I'm unable to give you the 411.

    Forrrce,

Thanks for the link on Ullanda. Surprising to me but, as long as she's happy. I mean, that's what matters...
