anyone ? :icon_confused:
I've just found out Joe La Greca produced a remix of Patrick Cowley - Menergy in '81 for Matra records (Lime's record label) and was also released on RAMS HORN records at 7:54.
Is it any different from the Fusion records version ?
Marky ? :P
If you buy this record your life, will be better.

I have the 12" on Ramshorn, I was hoping for soooo much more!
skip it, it doesn't add anything fresh to the song.
if you don't have the following other 2 versions listed below, they are worth checking out
Tracklisting:
A Megatron Man (10:54) B Megatron Man (Percussion Instrumental) (8:23)
and "Megatron Woman" by Native Love on Salsoul is pretty good as well, blatantly ripping off this earlier version of "Megatron Man"
The remake was arranged by Geraldine Hunt collaborator Kat Dyson [she found herself a member of Prince's New Power Generation band in 1996 and was featured on his Emancipation CD].
If I remember correctly it was meant to sound a lot like the original and because the Montreal sound was hailed at the time as the savior of the uptempo disco/pre-HiNRG scene ; it did sound OK.
The instrumental B-side could have found itself on the Mother F album (as a matter of fact on the Rams Horn version it is labelled "Patrick Cowley's Mengergy" and credited to Mother F and it was re-released in the late 80's) since I revered the Cowley original ; I just never got into this one.
Hope this helps.:icon_biggrin:

No.The one featured on the Prince projects like LoveSexy and Graffiti Bridge is spelled Cat.Her name is Cat Glover and was back-up vocalist and tour choreographer between 87 & 89.Cat is featured in the Graffiti Bridge movie and also has a song that is not on the soundtrack CD.
Kathleen Dyson made her debut in Prince's band later in the 90's and appeared on Emancipation and also the New Power Soul album.
She is very talented...and was a member of Cyndi Lauper's band when Cyndi opened for Cher in 2002-2003.

Hey! Six degrees (or posts) of separation.
Cyndi Lauper has the #1 position on this weeks Billboard Dance Chart with Into The Nightlife.
Thirty years ago this week, Sylvester had the #1 position with Dance(Disco Heat)/You Make Me Feel(Mighty Real).
And who played on those tracks? Patrick Cowley.
Now if we could just fit Kevin Bacon into this. :icon_lol:
:icon_cool:
I thought about Cyndi's current success on the dance charts as I was writing this.I absolutely love the 1-2 punch of High and mighty & Into the nightlife on the CD.
Good to see Cyndi,Donna Summer and Madonna still charting along with the newbies.:icon_razz:

I vaguely remember a Canadian "MENERGY", and buying it because the label was (intentionally?) deceptive, to look as if it was a UNIDISC release of the original. But it was actually a pretty weak cover version. I felt "duped", 'cause UNIDISC was releasing all the San Francisco stuff, so I assumed it was a remix of the original.
We talkin' about the same thing?
And Kathleen Dyson arranged Carol Jiani's 2nd LP. And wrote 3 songs for it.
"Whisper"
"You're Gonna Lose My Love" (my favorite on the LP)
"Kicking The Habit"
Though the LP had Sandy Wilbur writing and Joe LaGreca producing... It still lost it's spark, without the LePage touch.

I absolutely love Carol's 2nd Lp.It was a notch below her debut album but I loved it despite of its flaws. The LePage punch was surely M.I.A. but I loved the slackness in the sound overall.
Who can forget the lyrics to X-Rated ??
Don't want you to meet the family
You're just for me alone because
You're X-rated
S-E-X rated As the star of my fantasies
Whatever became of her rumored cover of France Joli's Come to me ??
Maybe it'll show up on her upcoming album with Australia's Peter Wilson.
I really dig her recent I don't wanna talk about love.
Any song that claims to be Donna Summer-esque has got to grab my attention !!

No I've only heard and loved the original album version of X.
As one Carol's friends on MySpace ; anytime she has a project we get a bulletin. She mentioned that she had done Fascinated,Somebody else's guy and Come to me covers.
But ever since it's been mentioned (and since I have the memory of an elephant) ; it piqued my curiosity.
Anyway here it is on YouTube.

The only version I have of 'Menergy' on Ramshorn is the version by the group Mother F. This version was on Unidisc and Matra as well. Is that the version you guys were talking about? It doesn't have the analogue power Cowley's has, but good as well.![]()
That's "Megatron Man". The remake was of "Menergy".
Was there a remake of "Megatron Man" as well?
OF NOTE:
The Joe Long remixes of "Megatron Man" for FUSION, along with the removal of the Cowley remixes of "Menergy" and "I Wanna Take You Home" from the Megatone Records LP (being replaced by "Sea Hunt" and "Teen Planet"), were the conditions stipulated to, for FUSION to drop their suit against Cowley and Megatone Records, over the release of the "Megatron Man" LP.
Megatone also got around it by rush-releasing the remixes of "Menergy" and "I Wanna Take You Home" on a 12" single. In the end, Megatone ended-up making more money on the songs after the suit, than they would have, otherwise.
And FUSION ended-up making more money off of the song "Megatron Man" than Megatone Records did. As the preferred versions were either side of the FUSION release, as opposed to the original Megatone LP, or 12" single versions.
