    Beyonce - Go-Go, Girl!!!

Just heard that new Beyonce single which I believe is #1 (in the UK at least) and I have to say, I never thought I'd see a go-go record topping the charts, 'specially as it went out of fashion all of 17 years ago! We tipped for the revival..?!

    Forrrce,
what single is that?? and are you sure it's not some sorta remix? I don't think it has been released over here yet and I really couldn't be bothered to skip through the entire album just to find out

To me, it seems higly unlikely that Beyonce would do go-go today - there must definetely be an easier way to pull out people's money....but then you never know.
I'd love for go go to come back into fashion though (not that anybody ever knew what it really was over here  )

I knew there had to be a catch! Just checked on the TOTP website, it's called 'Crazy In Love' . It is number one, though - and pretty funky!

Forrrce: Yes we did give it a cursory visit, very early on this year in early January. Shame you weren't posting then as I'm sure you would have opened up a few more goodies.
Generally, it would appear that our American friends here didn't know (or didn't like) what Go-Go was, as all the protagonists for that wonderful music were European.

With reference to the Beyonce track, I'm waiting for my daughter to get up so that I can give this track a listen.

    Hey guys,

this is me admiring BEYONCÉ's beauty :o :o She's so hot!!!

And the song, CRAZY IN LOVE, is great! The cover version of THE CLOSER I GET TO YOU that she did with LUTHER is good. I'm wanting to hear the other tracks of the album.

Yes, I can see a vague nod to Go-Go, unless what you've heard is a different mix.

Oooooh - you're being a bit cautious there, Quinny - I think it's more go-go than it isn't, if you see what I mean. But a hard man to please like yourself acknowledging the similarity is enough! (Ahem).

By the way, can you recall a BBC2 documentary on go-go from the late 1980s? I think it was an edition of Arena - I've contacted the BBC and they don't seem to have any record of it. Two guys I know remember it, but about as hazily as I do.

Pity I missed the thread, indeed - that would have been good fun. There must be loads of good go-go obscurities laying in bins in Washington, DC - maybe our friend "Spellbound" could recommend some!!!!

Beyonce is #1 in the USA also.

The best part of the song is the sampled horn track from The Chi-Lites "Are You My Woman (Tell Me So)" from 1970. :D
    "Lost inside adorable illusion...."
