Maybe some of you knew this but I had always wondered. One of my favourite 12" singles from the mid-80s is I'm The One You Want by Les Lee...originally released on Mega Bolt Records in '85 and then on Record Shack Records in 1986.
I found Les Lee's vocals to be passionately strong and the song certainly caught the attention of my club crowd back then. I was mixing it with hits like Phyllis Nelson's I Like You and Aretha Franklin's glorious Another Night but it would be two years later when this vocalist would break through with her huge hit Tell It To My Heart with the name Taylor Dayne! I was always curious about the resemblance of Les Lee vocals to Taylor's....and I've just recently found confirmation that they're one and the same.
