    Cerrone's Hysteria

Man do I like this album. I mean really like it. Nothing is as lush as the old days but the updated sound is quite nice. Still true to the dance vibe, 4/4 all the way, with a lot more soul in the vocal stylings. The 'cooing' over soaring strings is gone replaced with women who know how to vocalize without those annoying affectations we were discussing. Plus, every now and then he takes you 'back to that sound'. "Love On The Dancefloor" lifts the string rushes from the great "Look for Love". Don Ray's influence is all over the album, including an updated "Got To Have Lovin'". Of the 12 songs on the CD only one seems out of synch, that being track 11 titled, "That's Right". Comes off as more of an instrumental experiment highlighed with funk guitar tinges but with too many annoying loops to suit me. All in all, a real pleasant surprise. Should have bought it sooner. :D

I ordered the Hysteria single. There are two mixes of hysteria and they included That's Right. Of the three I would have to say the Mystic Hysteria Remix by Greg Cerrone is the best on the single and I really can't get into That's Right.

The mention of Cerrone reminds me of Bobby Viteritti's little tale of meeting Mr. C that he told to DJ Jimmy M in his interview....

Bobby & Mr. C were at some club where House maven Frankie Knuckles was spinning. Bobby perceived that Mr. C wanted Frankie to remix his newest creation (this musta been sometime in the 1990's).

Bobby refers to this period as the "didn't we just dance to this?" time when every song was an endless instrumental and they all sounded exactly the same...then every half-hour there'd be a vocal scream "I got the power"!!! :P :P :P  :P :P

Anyhoo....Mr. C. asked Mr. V. what he thought of his new work...Mr. V. told Mr. C. to take a hit of poppers and play "Supernature" backwards!!!

Don't know exactly what that means...BUT I LAUGHED ANYWAY!!!!!!

I haven't heard the Hysteria remixes but it's funny that this title track doesn't represent the album very well. The other cuts are far better than this.

I love Hysteria too.. I've always found his work a little but hit and miss..but yeah I love the cover and everything! I ordered my copy through a local music shop and the cover came with a special censor sticker :) .. "That's right" is a little too monotonous for me.. I guess i'm not the only one then..

That cover is typical Cerrone, naked ladies everywhere, some in strange masks. My CD came with one of those jacket/sleeves over the CD jewel case but it has the same artwork.
