Clothes , But No C-Car !! What is it they are singing??

****

We all have them don't we???

Those songs where we've slightly twisted the lyrics because we can't quite discern them??

Oh we know they aren't right , but they stay in our head that way anyway....(and usually wind up being better than the actual lyrics anyway!)

here are a couple of mine:

Hot Chocolate YOU SEXY THING

actual lyrics:

I believe in miracles
Where ya from you sexy thing (sexy thing you)

what played in my head:

I believe in miracles
wear your bra off, you sexy thing!
(sexy thing you)

_________

I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY Whitney Houston

actual lyrics:

Oh, I wanna dance with somebody
I wanna feel the heat of somebody
Ya I wanna dance with somebody

what played in my head:

Oh I wanna dance with somebody
I wanna smell the feet of somebody
Ya I wanna dance with somebody

_______________

You?
Got any????

Red face Re: Clothes , But No C-Car !! What is it they are singing??

Oddly enough I misinterpreted the lyrics of 'You Sexy Thing' too; I thought Errol was singing 'I believe in milko', whatever milko is (?!) - I was only 11 years old though.
My fave misinterpretation of mine was always in 'Chain Reaction' the monster no.1 pop hit by Diana Ross; instead of 'to anywhere & there aint no salvation' I was convinced she sang 'tell Eddie Waring there aint no salvation'!! Quite why Ms. Ross would be singing about a British rugby commentator god only knows!! (I hadn't thought it through - & no excuses this time 'cos I was 20 by this time!)

Well he's kinda marble mouthed ... and back then especially we were listening mostly on thin AM radios .

It helps to not mess up the punchline though .... it wasn't "take your bra off" I was hearing - but rather "wear your bra off " .

then

Jump, jump, for my love

what played in my head:

Jump !

He he, love it!

I often find myself singing 'I'm in Missouri can't you see' on 'The Love I Lost' by Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes instead of 'I'm in misery can't you see'; well, Teddy did sound in quite a state!! (geddit? sorry, couldn't resist that one!)

Oh well, let's give this total bomb of a thread (but for your contributions my dear Dee!) one more shot!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_wBqp0V9mo&t=4m27s (damn that didn't work .............???)

of course Stephanie is @ 4:30 and 4:37 simply offering the encouraging words:

"YOU CAN MAAAAKE IT ! "

but it was so much more fun to think she was twice urging the crowd at the top end of her range to:

"GET NAAAAKED !!!!"

*****

DEE:

I often find myself singing 'I'm in Missouri can't you see' on 'The Love I Lost' by Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes instead of 'I'm in misery can't you see'
that's nothing short of perfectly clever.
I will hear it that way from here on ...

Whenever I was at the clubs and heard the song "Cafe" by D.D. Sound and they got to tag line "Cafe, cafe, cafe", I thought they were singing, "I'm gay, I'm gay, I'm gay". LOL.
