Questioning how long I still have to wait for the SCHERRIE & SUSAYE PARTNERS songs to finally come in CD form....a re-release of MARY WILSON'S solo album would be nice too...

Very much looking forward to this! I had listened to a radio show online recently where they had interviewed the compilation producer regarding this set. Learned some interesting stuff about the "High Energy" album. Evidently it was a similar (though inverse) situation to the Chic mixes of Diana Ross' "Diana" album. House engineer Russ Terrana did the initial mixes which were rejected. The album was then remixed by the Holland Brothers' engineers L.T. Horn & Fred Ross which is the version that was eventually released. The previews of the Terrana mixes (among other things) sounded very enticing.. Looking forward to hearing some of the other surprises in this collection.

thanks for explaining this Neon ... (you'd think the sellers would be sure to have this information at Amazon). I was weary when I saw all the Terrana (who?) mixes mentioned ... concerned that they were modern day tamperings. Anything genuine from back-in-the- day like that gets my attention. I'm most intrigued.

This may be one I'll buy!!

    Disc: 2
    1. High Energy [Album Version]
    2. I'm Gonna Let My Heart Do The Walking [Album Version]
    3. Only You (Can Love Me Like You Love Me)
    4. You Keep Me Moving On
    5. Don't Let My Teardrops Bother You [Album Version]
    6. Till The Boat Sails Away
    7. I Don't Want To Lose You
    8. You're What's Missing In My Life [Album Version]
    9. High Energy [Original Terrana Mix]
    10. I'm Gonna Let My Heart Do The Walking [Original Terrana Mix]
    11. Only You (Can Love Me Like You Love Me) [Original Terrana Mix]
    12. You Keep Me Moving On [Original Terrana Mix]
    13. Don't Let My Teardrops Bother You [Original Terrana Mix]
    14. Till The Boat Sails Away [Original Terrana Mix]
    15. I Don't Want To Lose You [Original Terrana Mix]

    18. You're What's Missing In My Life [Mary Wilson Lead Version]
    19. I'm Gonna Let My Heart Do The Walking [Susaye Greene Lead Version] ---oo I want to hear that!!

Yes they did.. The group officially disbanded in 1977, seven years after Diana Ross left, but their last three albums (and last two lineups) saw them moving more in that direction. They weren't the pop crossover success that they once were, but the singles from their last albums generally did quite well in the discos. IMHO, their final album, "Mary, Scherrie & Susaye" (1976) is one of their finest records, under any incarnation.

Don't want to overload you with video, but here's a sampling anyway...

Thanks Neonlights! I really like "Let Yourself Go" I recall seeing it on the Top 700 now I see why, its glamourous and exciting...I also like " Come Into My Life". I realised I have "Im Gonna Let My Heart..." on Billboard 76 Dance Hits. According to it the song reached 40 pop and was used as a 'recruitment' song for the American Heart Association...as you do...3cds huh, quite a commitment...wonder how much that will be esp since I gotta pay for shipping...I'm sure I will like it though...Ill put it on "maybe to buy list" with the other 200 or so....:)

Yes, and interestingly, also under the Holland Brothers once again towards the end with their latter hits.... "Let My Heart Do the Walking" peaked at #3 Dance aswell as "You're My Driving Wheel" #5.

Can anyone tell me why this 3-cd set is so f**king EXPENSIVE???? $55.55 for 3 cds???? Is it the packaging? That price is a real buzzkill. When it's released some sellers may price it down--but doesn't this seem really steep for this material? Is it just me that's cheap??? lol

The Chic 4 cd box-set is available on Amazon for around $34 new from a seller [retail $44.93]

That's the average price, of a new CD boxed set (could go better deal once it releases, some seller in Amazon though). I know I've paid more for the Temptations' EMPERORS OF SOUL set, and almost two hundred bucks for the COMPLETE MOTOWN NUMBER ONES set.

And it's not just the '75-'76 stuff. Those of us who were around in proto days can remember "Bad Weather" (killer bassline...and the whistle!) and "He's My Man" getting played in clubs, too...

ha! your reply made me realize how jaded & spoiled I've become after living 25+ years in LA--home of the cheap promotional items given by record companies to reviewers and other industry types who resell them to record stores sealed and with a built-in discount. It's the way I've bought stuff for several decades. I bet the Supremes set would be priced around $32 as a promo item and if I waited it out for 6 months to a year--I might pick it up for $22 or less. I'll use this as a test case. I'll report back when I finally pick it up. I can wait.

OMG! The Supremes final album, Mary, Scherrie & Susaye, is the finest album any incarnation of the Supremes ever made. Those three girls were damn sexy too! Musically and vocally superior to everything before it. So sad the Supremes disbanded at the very moment they had reached their peak. I've often wondered what fabulous grooves those girls might have cut if they had carried on in the direction of Mary, Scherrie & Susaye.

Just received it today, OMG it's awesome !!! [And not so expensive : the price of the first volume is more than 200 euros now.]
Three new versions of "I'm Gonna Let My Heart Do The Walking", a 5:15 version of "You're My Driving Wheel" (with a unexpected ending), an alternate version of "Love I Never Knew You Could Feel So Good" with a cold end and a 4:40 version of "Bend A Little" are the best disco tracks IMO. The eight Terrana mixes for the lp "High energy" are hot too. The Mary Wilson leads are for her fans. Very nice 40 something-page booklet with as usual with Motown lots of information.
