My cursory first list contained a "Lucky" 13 essential items...

so I guess I gotta give away 8 of my faves to come up with FIVE!!!!

    1). I FEEL LOVE
    2) OUR LOVE
    3) LOVE IS IN CONTROL (FINGER ON THE TRIGGER)
    4) LOVE'S UNKIND (do I detect a "Love" theme here???)
    5) COULD IT BE MAGIC (hah!!! fooled ya!!)

That's a very lame and superficial list. There are at least 20 or more excellent choices.

Cool. However, I won't see that movie. My fiancee, however, wants to see it for some strange reason.

What reason? Cameron Diaz? Demi Moore? Jaclyn Smith? Rodrigo Santoro (a brazilian actor)? Donna Summer's "Last Dance" (Paul Jabara) is just the disco track of "Charlie's Angels" 2...

I think she wants to see the movie because of Cameron Diaz.

Seriously, I'm surprised that she would want to see a movie that's clearly targeted for men. But I don't want to see it. If Pamela Anderson and Catherine Zeta-Jones were in the movie instead of Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu, I wouldn't see it.

But I'm getting off-topic here. I'll save the rest for another thread.

I mentioned "Love's Unkind" in my list...Does anyone else shared my love for this tune? It's part of the "I Remember Yesterday" medley that constutues side one of that LP. This medley of 3 tunes was supposedly a tribute to "girl groups " of the past.

The first song "IRY" is a 40's sounding track with a clarinet; although it doesn't actaully imitate their sound, I've heard this was in homage to The Andrews Sisters. Then we get to "Love's Unkind" the Phil Spctor pastiche that evokes the memory of The Ronettes & The Crystals. This is such a great number. If only the composers of "Dreamgirls" or the cureent Broadway musical "Hairspray" were capable of writing this type of song. It definitely coulda been a hit back then.

The next song is "Back In Love Again" a blatant homage to The Supremes & Holland-Dozier-Holland. This is a nice track too...though not as memorable as "Love's Unkind". Then we go back to the framing song "I Remember Yesterday".

I loves it. I don't recall dancing to this medley..maybe that's why it remains such a distinct wanna-hear on the dancefloor for me.

Wasn't the concept of this album that each song was modelled on a different decade -- or am I reading too much into that?

Whatever the case, it's eerie how "I Feel Love", which was intended as the music of the future, was almost dead-on. Most futurism dates faster than the era it is from, but Giorgio was shockingly prophetic with this one. Just drop the chords out and add the ubiquitous 909 drums, and you've got contemporary vocal trance. Oh, and get someone who can't sing, and just use looped samples and autotune to fix the vocals.

    Graham,

Yes, it's suppsedly true that it was suppsed to be the 40's, 50's and 60's--however, "LOVE'S UNKIND" ( technically, the 50's cut) was in that early 1960's Phil Spector sound...so it's sorta vague.

BUT it's FUN, FUN, FUN and that's all that matters, eh? :D
