    Herbie Mann is Dead

Just heard that the famous flute player has died.

I will always remember Herbie for his classic disco cover of "Hi-Jack" from 1975. This record epitomized the mysterious new music called "DISCO that I discovered in SF after moving from "St. Olaf"!!!!!

I actually had a few LPs from Herbie..."Memphis Underground " among them, from my college years.

    May he rest in peace.

    Sad news really,

MEMPHIS UNDERGROUND, I'm wanting to put my dirty hards on this record for years! I remember HI-JACk too, great groovy track. HERBIE MANN was a gifted musician who put a lot of soul/disco/latin/brazilian music on jazz and fusion to create beautiful, groovy records. R.I.P.

Herbie Mann was a great Jazz artist as well as did some great hard disco under the direction of Patrick Adams. This is sad news and may he rest in peace.

    Herbie Mann - R.I.P.

Whether it was "Supermann" or "Hijack", Herbie Mann was a musician whose style was legendary.

He'll be deeply missed and my thoughts goes out to his family and friends.
Keep the faith and everything will come your way as time marches on!
