The New York Yellow Cabs are getting old and they need to be replaced. And what did the NY posse choose? A Turkish car!

But...the city council of New York has made another choice. This is the winner, based on the Nissan NV200.

This one will be build in Mexico and some 13.000 will cruise the streets of NY in 2013. 4 passenger seats, panoramic roof, sliding doors and 12V and USB contacts where customers can load or connect their mobile devices.

I was back in New York City the other weekend and there's definitely more variety in taxi cab models cruising the Manhattan streets. I saw VW Jettas, Toyota Camrys and Nissan Maximas in addition to the standard Ford Crown Victorias and Chevrolet Impalas. Not sure if I'm feeling the new Nissan NV200 as it looks so flimsy, but time will tell.
