Roller Disco, the favourite pass-time of a generation, skating on Disco Muzik. What are your RD-memories, favourite RD-tracks, RD-movies and RD-rinks?

I was lucky enough to have rolled at New York's Roxy club in 1980. 54 or "Roller Boogie" it was most definitely not. The massive venue was a showcase for cool minimalist hi-tech interior design with gray industrial carpeting, gleaming stainless steel surfaces and carefully positioned neon sculpture. We glided smoothly to Love Sensation, Give Me The Night, Zulu and Love Has Come Around. The rink was so big you never felt like going around in a circle, which made a huge difference. At one point, the beats diffused into Frank Sinatra's New York New York. The night could not have been more beautiful.
Recall skating to the Jacksons' "Shake Your Body Down to The Ground" and "Ain't No Stopping Us NOw" at the local roller disco. One night, the management was offering a special in that the first 50 people in the door for the evening skate session were to receive a free copy of MJ's newly-released "Off The Wall" LP. So many people were lined up beforehand and started pushing/shoving that they broke the glass front door of the place. So, yeah, I got to witness a "disco riot" far removed from the famed Comiskey Park one. LOL. Also spent $ to see "Skatetown USA" at the local cinema .....film's now one of my favorite guilty pleasures !!! Good times indeed.
Hang on...1980...I was in NY in 1980 when Red Light by Linda Clifford was big, and then back in town for more in 1981... when the clubs were playing Quick & Donald Byrd! So yes indeed, the Roxy must have been 1981. Was it even open yet in 1980? Anyway, I did fall flat on my stomach at one point there, too, and it hurt like hell.
