Is there a version of "Wanna Be Starting Something" out there (e.g. Hot Tracks, Disconet, etc) where they put in an echo effect during the mamasay, mamasah part?

I heard this once on the radio about 20 years ago.

There was some re-edit mix version of "Thriller" I remember hearing back in 83 at the old roller rink and on the dance radio station that had that one section from "Wanna Be Startin Somethin" pitched down a bit and echoed with a 4/4 beat thrown over then it jumps back into "Thriller". I dont know what this mix was from but it was damn awsome (I used to have it on tape but got lost several years ago). Could this be what your thinking of?

No. This version of "Wanna Be..." sounds almost like the original but during the mamasay part it has an echo like the dj/remixer used two copies and spaced the second copy out a few beats.

I never heard that but I once had a NuMark mixer that had both echo and delay effects, and when I plugged my turntables into it and used it to record with, I could add whatever effects I liked. After about 9 months, the right channel burned out and it was totally useless. I couldn't return it because I bought it at one of those traveling "electronics sale" shows. 200 bucks wasted, and you can imagine how painful that was for a skinflint.
