What`s the signifigance with this Philly group. Is that VMJ playing vibes on "Free man"?

Electric Indian was a name used by some of the Philadelphia musicians for a handful of releases which are listed here
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Electric+Indian%2C+The. There were lots of releases on different labels eg The Interpretations, Hidden Cost, Alliance and Race Street Chinatown Band. Most were recorded at Sigma and used different combinations from a pool of Philly musicians

As for Free Man, the South Shore Commission lp states that Instant Funk are the musicians on the track. It was recorded at Sigma so perhaps VMJ was in the studio that day...

Hey Scientist: That`s no question VMJ on vibes. Have you ever heard of FK`s edit? On Axis records. He brings that screamin` break to the front of the cut and builds on it for about four minutes and brings the rest of the cut in afterwards.

Love Electric Indian. Lots of instrumentals under various aliases coming out of philly back in those days. Eventually in '71 they'd settle on The Family followed by MFSB as a name for the collective group of musicians.
