I've been listening to "If You Want Me" all week and it sure sounds like the original Barbara Roy to me.
Two questions:
1. The song "Ask me" has been remixed in 1980 or 1981: by who? If you want you can hear this in my locker song no.34A9X
2. The song "If you want me" was a hit during 1981. The artist is still Barbara Roy and Ecstasy Passion & Pain, but the real one or someone else used this name?!?
Ciao

I've checked out in allmusic.com but it seems it doesn't exist a title "if you want me" by Barbara Roy and EPP.

Thank you guys for the answers, but my question is still open. I have some doubt about "if you want me" from Barbara Roy & EPP. Do you think is the original group from seventies that sing this song or is a group taking the name of Barbara Roy ???!!!
The style of "if you want me" is so different from EPP... What do you think?
Also the female voice in "if you want me", don't you feel is so different from the past?

I think the voice sounds exactly like Barbara Roy. The sound/style of the song may be different because it came out in 1981 versus their earlier songs which came out in 1974-76.
I believe "If You Want Me" was released on Barbara Roy's own record label.

Barbara Roy was the original artist from the group in the seventies.
The style of the artist changes with the arranger and producer, also the era when the song was recorded.
The eighties sound was different than the seventies. Van McCoy was one of the producers for earlier E.P. & P. hits in the seventies. The Disco sound that was created for the "Hustle" and "Freak" dance craze dominated the seventies.
Please keep in mind, Barbara Roy became a solo artist on RCA records in the mid-eighties.
The direction of the artist/performer changes because of various producers doing their project.
Keep the faith and everything will come your way as time marches on!
But is the album worth having it?
Carol Jiani's Hit 'n Run Lover album has at least 5 canadian hit songs, the biggest one being Hit 'N run lover.
#1 Hit 'N Run Lover
#2 The Woman In Me
#3 Ask Me
#4 Mercy
#5 Get On Up & Do It Again
If you buy this record your life, will be better.
