1991 may keep it out of the 'disco' category but for falsetto, give me Orlando Johnson rockin' the background vocals on Secchi's, "I Say Yeah". Great Italo Disco!
Sylvester: "I (Who Have Nothing)" - 1979
"Power" by the Temptations (1980). Excellent vocals by Glenn Carl Leonard who was the groups falsetto voice at the time.
Surprisingly, Berry Gordy himself produced this one.
Eddie Kendricks - Keep On Truckin'/Get The Cream Off The Top/Boogie Down
Sylvester - I (Who Have Nothing)
Here's some moe
Stylistics - Hey Girl, Come And Get It
Chi-Lites - Stoned Out Of My Mind
My vote goes for "Hey Girl, Come and Get It" from the Stylistics as well. Back around 1997-1998 I heard the Van McCoy version of this song and thought the melody and lyrics sounded familiar, especially the "Oompah Oompah Oompah", even though I hadn't heard whatever it was since the early '80s, but I knew that it couldn't have been the McCoy version that I had known, because it was too obscure for pop radio. Finally, earlier this year I discovered the original Stylistics version - that's what I had heard 20 years ago! It's very nice indeed.
Also, Michael Jackson's falsetto in "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough" is great.
I like most of the choices thus far,
BUT don't forget EDDIE HOLMAN'S thrilling falsetto on...(Yes folks, I'm shilling once again).... :P
"THIS WILL BE A NIGHT TO REMEMBER"!!!!!!!!!!
