    Santa Esmeralda Arab LP??????

Ok, I a long while ago on the forum was asking if anyone knew the years and release labels of the last 2 Santa Esmeralda LP's from the early 80's "Hush" and "Green Talis Man". I found a copy of "Green Tallis Man" on vinyl from some country that has backwards looking writing (like putting the letters in the mirror backwards) and symbols as letters and I cant read hardly a damn thing on the label and cover LOL. But i would like to know if this was the only country this thing was released in. I honestly couldnt even tell ya the record label either cause that looks assbackwards as well. All I know is that its something to so with Polydor and JVC (yes, the stereo equiptment people). And I found a year on it!! 1982 was the release year! Does anyone know if this was issued in the USA at all other than the early 90's CD from Hot Productions? And can anyone give me the info on the "Hush" LP which im guessing would be 1981 maybe? If "Hush" was ever released in the USA and if so what label etc cause these last 2 LPs of them are near on impossible to find on the original vinyl. My Santa Esmeralda collection is now almost complete! (even though the one is a very very bizzare pressing lol).

Are you sure it's Russian? I find it very surprising that such music would get released there in the early 80s. I don't think the Beatles got their material issued there until the mid-80s, and that was a pretty big deal at the time.

Now, if it was a Greek pressing, that would make a lot more sense...

Well my geography sucks, but I can tell ya its from Lithuania. And this wrtiting that I dont understand is Russian looking now that I do think about it. My friend had told me that Lithuania is Russian area..but its a Lithuania import and the label has something to do with Polydor and JVC. Is there any info you may know on the LP "Hush" from early 80's? Thats the only Esmeralda LP I need now to have em all.

I have a brazilian edition of Santa Esmeralda's "Hush" LP and the label is "Fauves-Puma" (probably French):

Recorded and Mixed In Paris at Studio Gang
Produced by Nicolas Skorsky for Fauves-Puma Production
Fauves-Puma is a trade mark of Nicolas Skorsky producitions

The more long song is "Street Fighting Man + Street Suite" (Jagger/Richards/Goings/Pezin), 7:15.

Lithuania was part of the USSR, however --

The Lithuanian language uses the Roman (i.e. English) alphabet. And I'm pretty sure that all records released in the USSR would've been on the state-owned Melodiya label. By the time Lithuania became independent, vinyl was extinct and cassettes were pretty much the only format.

Yea Fauves Puma was their French company. And Graham..I think that could be the label cause it kinda looks like it could say that as the label name, its a pure white label with black lettering, but on the cover has something to do with JVC (stereo componate people lol) and Polydor..both logos are there on the front..strange

I was reading about your strugle to complete the Santa Esmeralda collection. I have the same problem myself. I keep thinking of the hard work and long time I've spent all these years trying to find some records. When you think it is over, then you find something else which turns you on... and the search begins all over again.

Long before the days of the video-cassette recorder, Santa Esmeralda came here in Rio de Janeiro and played LIVE at Papagaio Disco Club. It was 1978, and it was so over the top that the show was exhibited at the TV. Now I wonder if a copy of that existed! Videocassettes didn't exist at the time. But if I only could I would bootleg it.

    News to me

Wow, and I thought 1980's "Don't Be Shy Tonight" was Santa Esmeralda's last one; it ended on such a slow mood of finality, it seemed. I have that one, all the ones before it, and a collection. I hope to find the last two, and to see that 1978 Rio concert someday if it was preserved somehow.

Those last 2 are near impossible to find on vinyl, I looked for quite a few years till I finaly came accross the final LP off of that Lithuania country which is why I made this post lol. If you dont mind if they are on CD you could get the out of print CD's of both LP's from the now gone Hot Productions on amazon.com, they still have em in their warehouse. But if your lookin for vinyl like me then..join the quest! LOL. The 1981 LP "Hush" is more on the danceable pop and rock side and the 82 LP I got finally "Green Talasman" is a combo of the classic 1977/78 typical Santa Esmeralda disco tune and latin disco with a few pop ballads and rock tunes. If your collecting all the Esmeralda LP's I highly recomend tracking them down.
