Has anyone heard Cerrone's latest cd called "Hysteria"? It's excellent and includes an updated version of Don Ray's classic disco hit "Got To Have Lovin'". There's also a cd maxi single of the song "Hysteria" out as well. Both are on the Malligator label from France. The entire cd is a trip back to the glorious disco days of the 70's. If you haven't bought it yet, I would highly recommend you do.
barronc: it's SO weird you brought that up because I was reading the titles on it yesterday while I was music shopping (it was $5.99 and I didn't buy it but if you say it's worth it I believe you and I'll get it next time). Did you look at the release date? I saw several old song titles on it and it sure doesn't look like a recent release to me, though I could be wrong. I hesitated because the album of Cerrone remixes that I bought was awful and I couldn't even sit through it once. I've never heard a single remixed version of one of his songs that I preferred to the original.

You're probably unlikely to get a response from barronc - if you look at his post, you'll see he made it in June 2003 and it's taken over 4 years for anyone to reply! :icon_eek:
So at the time, it was a new release, but now it's not. The CD's title track Hysteria was included on the Cerrone Culture DVD, which I own, and you can also see the video on YouTube:

It's a WONDERFUL album. Kinda half his disco sound and half modern-- I 've not heard much of Cerrone's 80s-90s output (except big hits like Trippin on the Moon which I love) but a lot of what I had heard didn't interest me--so in many ways this really was a return to form even if I probably overplayed it.
The best track, and a must for any Cerrone disco fan is Wanna Make Love on the Dancefloor. I believe it was a club single. It's a long diva vocal track filled with strings and has a whole middle part where the strings directly sample Cerrone's classic strings from my fave track of his, Look for Love. It's STUNNING.

Agree with you there - Love on the Dancefloor is by far the stand out track on the album. I'm not THAT enamoured with the album and didnt play it that much when I got it.
Its kinda hard to fit Cerrone into contemporary music although the recent Louie Vega/Cerrone track Dance Ritual is stunning.
I have to admit I give the album so much props largely based on that song--tho Hysteria is good too. I mean compare it to say Moroder's comeback attempts and the mix of modern and disco is all the more stunning.
I haven't heard this other track you speak of--details please:) I see he has a new album this Fall
Thanks Eric; as usual, you came through for me again. Gotta go and hunt for it, hopefully, it is not too hard to find; what genre are they putting it under? Should be dance but if it's someone younger that doesn't have a clue, they'll probably put it in a section in the CD store where it doesn't belong.

It should be easy to find--it got a US release about a year after the EUro release but I believe both are still in print and amazon.com has used copies for I think even 2 or 3 bucks. It's definetly not hard to find anyway but it might be harder in shops
Great Cd.
Cerrone proved that after almost 30 years he is still the man.
Got to have lovin and gonna get you are trumendous, also i love to here Nile there, concert is also hilarious
This CD is very Cerrone's. My inner compass tells me Got To Have Lovin' and The Only One are disco-ish and, surprise, those are the tracks I like the most. I also like the clubby songs Funky Lov and 38 And You. Other tracks are kind of house with a pinch of electronic.
If you like music à la Cerrone, you will find Hysteria worthy. He once said: "I don't want to try and do R&B, or sound like the young people", and I think this is fairly true because Hysteria is for a developed taste.Check new album Celebrate! and watch a Got To Have Lovin' video here: http://www.discomusic.com/forums/disco-music-70s-80s/26092-cerrone-c-est-chic-live.html.
