    Mystique

I remember hearing a track years ago could never remember the song title but bought a 12 inch single some 6 months ago which has 4 tracks on one which is called Ur In Need by the Phenominal Handicap Band which is on better days records a modern label i guess.
I was seaxrching vinyl 12 inch records on Ebay America and came across the track called when youre in need a promo 3 track by Mystique a seventies black group on Curtom label which i gladly won.
Does anyone know much about this black group and what other goodies they released i think their 12 inch singles are rare this is a promo i have got i know Curtis mayfields connection with the Curtom Label but not thye group.

the 3 track 12" you purchased was promo only, so it's fairly rare.

and Lenny Williams did a cover of "If You're I Need" which I prefer to the Mystique version

Thanks for that, i thought the original version was by Mystique i like both versions the Lenny Williams version is less boogie and deep and the record 12 inch 4 track i bought, must be Lenny williams on vocals with some slight change to the track of the original they call it UR In Need and folowing this track is carry on carrie a shorter 12 ich of dance with you Carrie Lucas.
Does anyone else have any good tracks by this group on 12 inch or were they mainly 7 inch singles and LPs , i might have to by the Mysique 1977 album from sometime.

    Re: Mystique

Well my Mystique fairly rare 3 track 12 inch promo on Curtom label finally arrived from America to the UK with all the bad weather it was stuck somewhere and i could not wait to get my copy of this promo 12 inch to spin . The best track is if youre in need and its fairly fast for 1977 131 Bpm also keep on playing the music is good too well worth the $11.70 which i won it for on Ebay, anyone else know of any good tracks by this group or are they fairly obscure?. If Youre in Need does not appear on You Tube wonder if somone could upload it sometime, so people can listen to both versions of this track.

The Mystique LP (they only did one) is a bit tricky to find but can be tracked down. The one to get though is the CD, released about 10 years ago. This has the entire album on it but in addition contains 4-5 bonus tracks of previously unreleased material recorded at the same time. The standout cut for me is "spoiled like a baby" a real philly type groover.

Be warned though the CD is extremely hard to find and very expensive £60/$100....

Thanks karlos for the info i dont have a Cd player dont like CDs im a vinyl junkie lol i love my vinyl so i would probably find the 1977 mystique album more up my street, but wonder if anymore 12 inch singles are available or were released of fthe 1977 album with the brilliant track if Youre In Need and i must say the mystique version is still more pumpy and more upbeat than the cover version by lenny williams.

Andy I'm a Vinyl Junkie too and hate CD's but if a CD contains tracks unavailable elsewhere I sometimes have to bite the bullet so to speak....

Another vinyl junkie, hey but i mean im a vinyl junkie because i wont buy a single CD even if i have to sacrifice getting some tracks , but i have managed over the last 20 plus years since CDs became the rage so i better buy the mystique Album it will be cheaper than buying a CD player plus the CD . Lol
