Isley Brothers working with Bacharach and Bell!!!!

The LA Times had a blurb saying the Brothers Isley were recording a CD of "ballads" produced by the great Burt Bacharach...AND there were also sessions with Philly soul-specialist Thom Bell!!! Now this is something I want to hear!!! That silky Ronald Isley voice surrounded by the genius orchestrations of Bacharach & Bell!!!!

Also Jeff wrote me that Kelly Marie & Tina Charles!!! (talk about raising the dead!!!!) had recorded a cover of the old Lulu chestnut "To Sir With Love"!!!!! Any truth to that????

    I'm just tellin' & askin'!!!!!

This would be awesome. I've never let these guys go since "Twist & Shout". (No, sweetheart, that really wasn't a Beatles' record  ). Now if I could only figure out how to remix "Got To Have You Back" for club play   .

I reread that article again and it says Bacharach is producing a CD of "standards" for The Isley's at Capitol Records to be released by Dreamworks Records later this year.

It says there were also sessions with Philly soul specialist Thom Bell and the foul Mr. Underage Water-sportster-- R.Kelly. (gag me)

I don't get if this is all for one CD or different ones.

I hope the Bacharach & Bell sessions are not mixed with that R. Smelly crap.

Whoaaaa, fantastic news for all of us, soul ballads hardcore fans! In fact, it is time to our friend Ronnie put aside his "gangsta" persona and come back to the silky soul ballads he did SO WELL in the past. Nothing against their new album, but THE ISLEYS nu sound is too hippy hoppy, at least for my ears. Ronnie Isley with Bacharach and Thom Bell? A dream come true! :D :D :D

Update on the Burt Bacharach/Ronald Isley collaboration!!!!

USA Today adds the following info:

"The lead singer of The Isley Brothers is recording some of his favorite Bacharach songs, plus new material and possibly a duet with the composer, for a Bacharach-produced album due before Christmas.

Isley says, "I've been waiting to do this for a long time." Among the standards he plans to include are Alfie, The Look Of Love, Make It Easy On Yourself and "A House Is Not A Home.

"This is the type of music I was born and raised to do, " Isley says. "We got sidetracked doing "Twist And Shout" and those kind of songs, which were great. But this album is going to just blow people's minds."

"Baby, I can't wait"!!!!
