The first time I heard about The Saint was when Ian Levine called it the best disco in the world. It was quite literally a 'pleasure dome' wasn't it?

To the best of m knowledge, the dance floor area was a converted Planetarium, one of the reasons for the spectacular lighting effects. I've never seen anything quite like it before or since. I remember dancing to Charades "Got To Get To You" and when she sang the line "...another day goes by..." the dome went from daylight to sparking stars in a flash.Originally Written by SandraDee

The final time I went to the Saint was in 1987, when they played Louie Louie: The Girl Who Seduced The World, English Boy In A Love Ranch, Living In A Box and was it one of the first Army of Lovers tunes I heard there? (in any case, Camilla Henemark aka la Camilla, the female vocalist of army Of Lovers, has now been exposed as having been the mistress of Carl Gustav the king of Sweden during the early 90s, in case if you don't know this already. It's been quite a scandal up north during the last months. The poor Queen Silvia suffered additional insult as her father has now been discovered as being a member of the nazi party in Germany during the war. Silvia denies everything despite concrete evidence, no expression on her heavily botoxed face). I was as awestuck as anybody when I first walked in but somehow, the size of the hall somehow worked against it, it was simply too big even though it was absolutely packed. It was really like dancing in an aircraft hangar. The music was stunning though, and it was all quite an experience for a small town boy.
