No contest for me - Trammps
you decide
No contest for me - Trammps
I could agree in some terms, but all groups are pretty much the same except for the vocals, the (b)Baker-Harris-Young(/b) played most parts....and Earl Young was a member of the Trammps........
to add, this is not a contest just, everything related to the groups and people behind them could be posted here...
thanks

Double Exposure, if only for the reason that, as a house fan, I can tell you that there are 3 different parts of "Free Man" that been have pitched, looped & filtered to breed 3 different house tracks by Antoine Clamaran "Fizzy Fonk", DJ Sneak "Reachin'" & Milk & Sugar "If you wanna", the three of which are among my favorites. This is what I call a reservoir sample !
...
I said everything related so I guess have to accept post like yours, but samples and house remixes of old disco classics are ashame. It's not practicable since disco is true and positive but house machines and aggressive.......sorry
The Trammps.
There's nothing like Where do we go from here... it is unbeatable...
Cheers,
thats where the happy people go has got to be one of the most "complete" disco songs ever. having funk, soul, a great beat, some infectous singing, lord have mercy the trammps take the cake!

Fully agree with you Carmine, 'That's Where The Happy People Go' is without doubt the best track, not only disco, ever made.
Ok this is all new info to me. I never knew all 3 groups were related in someway. My fave Trammps track is "The Lights Went Out In NYC"

I think it's funny people still say house is aggressive. It's beyond me ! This is the most positive modern music I know. Everytime I'm depressed I put on a house record. It makes me want to dance & smile. Wasn't that the point of disco too ? Whatever
Based purely on the original disco content, I would still say Double Exposure, for the beautiful "Ten Percent" & almost by default. I never clicked with the Trammps, & I don't know enough of Love Committee to express a valid opinion (if my house-music lover opinion is valid 8) .
DJ Jimmy M: I think the 'relationship' stems from the fact that they all worked with the same studio musicians and two of the acts (Double Exposure, Love Committee) were under the "Salsoul" umbrella.
Vodkatonique: Double Exposure and "Free Man" :-? Shouldn't this be South Shore Commission, another group working that 'Philly' sound? Or were you thinking of "My Love Is Free"? 8)
Whoops ! None, actually, I was talking about "Everyman". So much 4 trying to be taken seriously
i want to be the boy with the most cake
For me nothing beats the Trammps! They are the first truly original disco group in my book, first time I heard ‘Zing’ I was hooked on Trammps, I’ve been listening to Dimitris’ mix CD all last week and just re-discovered “Just as Long” by Love Committee, this is a killer track, you can tell it’s the Salsoul Orchestra though, even the drum rolls are familiar.
