    Hi all! Just checkin' in!

I feel like many of you are my family and I've missed you. Life happens! (Mainly work happens - or, work is what happens when you're trying to have a good time!) I hope you are all well and in good spirits.

I recently bought the Brecker Brothers first CD so I could once again hear "Sneakin' Up Behind You." We danced to that at the Parliament House in 1975 or 1976, I believe. Of course, I loved it, but that cut sounded surprisingly like the Average White Band. Serendipity perhaps?

Anyway, it's jazz-funk, which is wonderful. It just goes to show you that what was actually played in "our" disco bars (no clubs back then in Orlando) was a wide range of whatever the DJ thought sounded good together that "had a good beat and was easy to dance to." After all, isn't that what it's all about?

    Hi Leanmean,

Been thinking about you and wondering how you were doing. Good to see you on the board. "Sneaking Up Behind You"... wonder why gay men liked that song :) ?

You're right about the music back then. As long as it moved the feet, we were complete :D .

You know, we miss you and Boodikka. Quite a few of the "beginners" are AWOL but some of us are hangin' in. You better be behavin' yourself down there in the land of sun and fun. Send me a PM or an email and share the dirt.

    Good to see ya! :D :D :D

LeanMean: Memories indeed. 'Sneakin' Up Behind You' was from late '74? and yes, in the UK too, we played all different types of good dance music then. It more or less stayed that way here and in most of Europe. We never fully embraced D-I-S-C-O.
Have you ever seen the Breckers live, playing Jazz? They are phenomenal!

    Hey Lean. :D
Nice seeing an old familiar family name again.
I just assumed you and Boodi were too busy "Tipping The Velvet" to engage the rest of us here
I hope at least you're reading some of the posts.

Paul - What on earth does tipping the velvet mean? If I catch your drift, and it means something sexual, let me just say this: I do not appreciate it. Please refrain from making these crude little remarks. You've made them before and each time it makes me feel like all you think about is "two girls together" and getting your jollies. I like your musical comments - you know that, but I don't like your "wink, wink" sexual remarks. Please stop reducing gay women to a sex act. As women, quite naturally we are more into relationships. (Your comment was the last straw of many you have made in that direction toward or about me).
