Hi all! Just checkin' in!
I feel like many of you are my family and I've missed you. Life happens! (Mainly work happens - or, work is what happens when you're trying to have a good time!) I hope you are all well and in good spirits.
I recently bought the Brecker Brothers first CD so I could once again hear "Sneakin' Up Behind You." We danced to that at the Parliament House in 1975 or 1976, I believe. Of course, I loved it, but that cut sounded surprisingly like the Average White Band. Serendipity perhaps?
Anyway, it's jazz-funk, which is wonderful. It just goes to show you that what was actually played in "our" disco bars (no clubs back then in Orlando) was a wide range of whatever the DJ thought sounded good together that "had a good beat and was easy to dance to." After all, isn't that what it's all about?
You can slide my finger on it
