    Definitive David Bowie

So I'd like to get my hands on the best David Bowie collection. He has like six million compilations out there and I figure you guys can narrow the search

Of course when I say his best I mean the one(s) with the longest versions of his songs. Most of the compilations I've seen from him do have the songs I want so it's just a matter of length and perhaps how well the cd was mastered.

    Paul,
Aside from getting the albums separately, a nice greatest hits compilation is the now long out of print Rykodisc boxset called "Sound and Vision" from the 1990s. I have it on CD and vinyl and can tell you it has a nice selection and clean audio as it was released before the loudness wars. The CD boxset contains 4 CDs although one is a CD-Video with only 3-4 tracks: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...SIN=B00000E7MS

The vinyl boxset has 6 records pressed on clear virgin vinyl: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...SIN=B00008FPXA

The length of songs on these are necessarily the longest, but selection and fidelity plus the booklet are what any Bowie fan would love.

Ooooops, just noticed I have a typo and it should read:
The length of songs on these are NOT necessarily the longest...

    Paul,

A good single disc is this one ....only bad thing is the "Fame" included is a 1990 remix---so that sucks--but the rest is great. Probably out of print now.

I then bought this 2 cd compilation that has everything I think you'd want:

I was happy with this one...never felt the need to get any later updated compilations....the box set that Bernie mentioned is supposed to be excellent also.

Bernie, no Modern Love on Sound and Vision? Surprising for a 3 cd set.
I'll check your suggestion Donald. Thanks.
