3,000 disco albums, 12" singles FOR SALE

How much is my collection worth? I was the head DJ for Captain Disco in Malib and also served as head DJ Dillon's Disco in Westwood and was their "Flying DJ" at their downtown L.A. club. So I was DJing before and while disco first hit. I was a member of the Southern California Disco DJ Association for many years from whom we would get piles of promotional product every week. In addition, I would make the rounds to a number of the labels in Hollywood every week and pick up more. So you can imagine my collection! But I haven't used those since about 1980. Many have never been played, I have multiple copies of popular ones, and many are unopened.

Can anybody tell me how much this collection may be worth and is anyone interested? I'm in the Washington, DC area now.

Ron just seen your post! The answer is there is no answer! It will depend on what's in there - some records are more valuable then others indeed they may all be valuable. To maximise your revenue you'll need to catalogue them all and maybe 'test the waters' on Ebay. Otherwise you could sell them all to a dealer and get maybe a third of their true value.

Im in the same boat Ron, my collection goes back to the late sixties thru the nineties when I lost intrest. Including promos and one of a kind 12" remixes I,m at around 7,000 records all related to dance and club music from around the world.
I was a cabinet maker for Richard Long and Assc. for many years and not a DJ but enjoyed all the privilages.Finally gave up trying to sell on my own and got a collector from Paris who was knowlegeble about this music Marc Devon I think his name was. Took me forever to compile and catalouge everything and send to him.After about three weeks His reply was 750.00 for all.
I would advice you to keep what you have and enjoy as for me I invested in a brand new Rega TT and am listning and still enjoying these great records, good luck .Don

I had about 2,000 or more 12 inch singles, all kinds or remixes, imports, one of a kind mixes. I put it up on Craigs list for sale, got 2 people that seemed interested and then never heard from them again.

For space reasons, I had to end up throwing out over half of them, right in the trash because no one wants vinyl anymore. It killed me to do this. Now I still have the other half stored in a room outside my house and getting ready to trash them in the spring. Anyone know of any place that will buy them?

Well, usually used record stores will buy your old vinyl but I have no idea what you'd get offerred for each record. I know it'd be less than what they'll turn around and sell them for.

Hi, i saw your posting of 3000 albums, 12 inch singles for sale. I am definitely interested in seeing what you have. Please do not throw these in the trash..I'll take em' off your hands regardless of what they are. I know a few people, including myself, who are dedicated, or at least prefer turntable mixing with vinyl as opposed to cd decks or digital. THe sound quality on a 12 inch can't be matched. They were pressed louder for the clubs and i think sound better than crappy mp3s, which is the main medium nowadays...... if you have a lot of stuff i already have, i'll still offer you something, as i can trade with others if i end up with duplicates...Please consider this...
