Chic "I Want Your Love", "Everybody Dance" - in each instance the break-down to the bass isn't rushed and well worth the wait!
Sister Sledge = "He's the Greatest Dancer" - the break with the punctuating strings/fluglehorns sounds like something from the "Psycho" soundtrack (meant in a good way).
Narada Michael Walden always had good breaks - "I Shoulda Loved You", "Tonight I'm Alright" - for Stacy Lattisaw, "Jump to the Beat", "Dynamite!" - the break-down to the bass reduces me to tears!
Donna Summer - the "Hot Stuff" 12" version - the second break with the saxophone, sythesizers and back-up vocals.
Dolly Parton "Baby I'm Burnin'" - the break drives me to frenzy.
Pattie Brooks - "After Dark" and Jackie Moore "This Time Baby" - these break all over the place.
Brainstorm - "Lovin' is Really My Game".
Stephanie Mills - "You Can Get Over" - a very frantic, high energy break.
Diana Ross - "No One Gets the Prize" - two words, "Back Off"!
First Choice - "Double Cross" - builds-up to break-down.
Ashford and Simpson - "Found A Cure" - sheer exhilaration!
The Brother Johnsons - "Stomp!" - the last break is even better than the first.
And, there are so many more!
Creative breaks are the cornerstones of Disco music.
