I'll take great sound over extravagant packaging every single time. Tom Moulton mastered the Bionic Boogie set, and did a great job. Shout out to Donald Cleveland!!!
Hi guys:
Yesterday I finally received my first two remastered albums produced by Funky Town Grooves.
They are:
1) Pattie Brooks - Love Shook + Our Mrs. Brooks.
http://www.discomusic.com/cds-more/14580_0_3_0_C/
2) Greg Diamond & Bionic Boogie - Hot Butterfly (Expanded Edition)
http://www.discomusic.com/cds-more/14687_0_3_0_C/
Unfortunately, the two front covers plastic CD jewel case arrived damaged, because of the little protection offered by the shipping package.
The liner notes, although quite complete and very well written, are only two pages. I think it could have been supplemented by additional information and some pictures, and even the original pictures from the front and cover of the original discs. Why not?
The sound ... well, the sound is very good. High frequencies are beautifully clean and bright. I heard details of the instruments as I never had heard before. The separation between the channels is very good. We can clearly listen instruments from the right and the left channel. High dynamics are fully preserved, so we can clearly hear the sound with lower and the higher volumes.
Finally, the subjective impression of sound quality is very good. And it doesn't seem to be clipped. So at this time we (the listeners) won the "loudness war".
Cheers,
Hessel

More pictures and more information.
You asked for reproductions of the lp front covers...but....er...eh..they are ON the front cover.
The liner notes are "quite complete".....but you want more?
Honestly I have NO idea how to respond- other than to say "Hello Ricardo"~!!
About your packaging. I dont mail them- for your location the UK staff mails them.
And since I am here in the USA- I am out of that loop.
UK to Brazil can introduce handling issues.
Now.....a story:
Based on my own purchasing habits (you know I'm not an abstract figure- I'm just like you a guy who spends his hard earned money) buying CDs quite a bit of which are from the UK, Germany, Japan, France.....do you have any idea how many broken Jewel Cases I've gotten? The packaging matters only sometimes. The people HANDLING the transport of the package from point A to point B are the main culprits here...you do understand that, right? Because I do. I once ordered some press pictures from an international seller. The seller did what they could- stiff boards, marked clearly "DO NOT BEND".
Guess what condition I got my photos? BENT AND JAMMED INTO MY POST OFFICE BOX. I get packages every single day- I'm ALWAYS at the call window to receive packages. Why did they choose to bend THIS package??
I'll never know. But I didnt complain about the sellers packaging. The seller had taken reasonable actions- but there is a chain in between which has NOTHING to do with you (buyer) or us (seller). Sorry they were broken, in a perfect world we would fly CDs to you on the wings of angels.

Besides, the discs are in standard jewel cases. If the cases get broken, they can easily be replaced... unlike digipaks or pretty-looking custom designs.
Hellooooo Donald:
I know you did an excelent job. And you did...
Don't you know that customers always ask for more??
None of us are angels... as far as I know.
And, BTW, I was not complaining about mailing and/or handling... I was just describing the whole thing.
Hello Bruno:
Yes I know. I realized.
I will do.

Hessel

More to review as BIONIC BOOGIE was mailed out to North & South American customers yesterday. The overwhelming bulk of you should receive them Saturday. A couple of you received them today. The rest should receive Monday/Tuesday.
Our European customers will have their deliveries delayed until the shipment gets to the UK offices which will be Monday (there are no weekend deliveries). You should then receive your copies by Wednesday or Thursday.
Let the judgement begin~~!!

I received both cds and are thrilled to find them actually released on cd. "Hot Butterfly" is an amazing album, literally every track is amazing."Hot Butterfly" is magnificent."Chains" is funky as hell, especially the "its your heart baby"...refrain."When The ****.." is probably the albums weakest spot though is still a good disco track."Paradise" is heavenly and probably my fav track."Cream" is a close second love the vocals and the electo effects. And "Fess Up" is good old fashioned boogie with an amusing, catchy"along came Mary, Mary quite contrary". line. I would have liked more liner notes cos Gregg Diamond is my fav disco artist and producer and yet it seems impossible to find out info on him.But again I am thrilled that it has been released on cd. Will "Starcruiser" get the cd release anytime soon ??? And I still like "Love Shook". "Lets Make Love To The Music" is amazing as is "Come Fly With Me ". Thanks Funkytowngrooves for releasing these classics! Maybe next up for me:"Doctor Rhythm" M-Zee Band, "House Of Music" TS Monk....will i like the rest of "House Of Music" I wonder cos I love "Candidate Of Love". And M Zee I will take a chance on cos its Michael Zager.

Hi guys:
Yesterday I finally got the CD from Bionic Boogie Risky Changes.
Wow .. almost thirty days in post between England and Brazil. But despite the extremely long time, the outer plastic box arrived intact.
The quality of the remastering is incredible. Excellent. Donald Cleveland had an exceptionally wonderful job. The final quality of the audio is very good. As the Bruno Republic had already manifested, the separation between the channels is excellent. Apparently, there is no evidence of having been a clipping in audio volume. It seems that at this time we won the "Loudness War". Thanks Donald.![]()

However, the liner notes are still only two pages.![]()
