Yes, mine is the same.
A 33 & 1/3, small hole promo on Sunnyview (from RCA).
It also was on a Compilation; don't know which one, but I do have an mp3 copy of it. Better quality but vocals are still low in the mix.
Does anyone have this 7" disc ? ....I managed to hear one and the vocals seem very low, almost lost in the mix...is yours the same ?

Jay mentioned it being on a compilation- a couple actually- a Japanese, and an American CD: Philly Ear Kandy which I highly recommend because of it's BRILLIANCE!! Early Philly DISCO and ballad GREATNESS.
And because Vince fixed that low vocal. It's track 12- listen to that sample!! There is even a previously unreleased extended Ronnie Walker- Magic's In The Air. I cannot recommend this excellent CD to enough people.

"Philly Ear Kandy"--EXCELLENT---and that Ronnie Walker extended track--->BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Nice that you pointed that out Donald!!!!
Thanks!!
I thought the Philly Ear Kandy version was a completely different recording with Denise Montana on vocals. It sounds like it was recorded around '78 when they did the Goody Goody project.
Sunny Gale's version is also on Disco Express Vol.1, but the intro is slightly missing because it's mixed into the previous track. I haven't heard the 7 inch version, I'm guessing it's the same mix.

This is the later version I'm referring to. It definitely sounds later than '75.

You may be correct Disco-Funk. I went on insider knowledge. Vince had his multis and mixed them for the Philly Ear Kandy.
To be fair though....insiders have been mistaken before. And...everything on Philly Ear Kandy sounds like it was recorded later. When you have your multitracks and can remix to current standards it would NOT sound like 1974. Even when you follow the same charts and mix levels it will be different because the equipment is different.
Perhaps Vince used the original track- but laid newer vocals on top?
He did that with the Ronnie Walker project released last year.
So with that track- perhaps the truth is somewhere in the middle? You know how good the Brown Sugar tracks sound on that CD- right? Longer too with an additional chorus.
"We wanna know.........Weeee wanna KNOOOO!!"
Maybe Vince himself will see this and tell us?

It's possible, but to my ears, it sounds like most of the instruments have been changed. I couldn't find a youtube link to the original version. The intro sounds almost exactly the same, but then when the bass comes in, they sound different. I think the Goody Goody version is a little faster.
I'll have to check out the Ronnie Walker stuff. I only ever heard his work on the PSW CDs Vince released, and his writing credit on Love Is You for Carol Williams.
I like the Brown Sugar cuts. I never did get the 45, they go for a lot of money, so the CD is just as good. Brothers Guilding Light AKA David Morris doing Getting Together is another great cut from that CD collection. And the instrumental mix of The Modulations 'It's Rough Out Here' was a nice gem that was previously unreleased.
I hope Vince has more stuff up his sleeve to release. I haven't seen much since those PSW CDs were released several years ago.
