Luther Vandross made a version of it in 1994 on his "Songs" album
UK DJ Legend Steve Walsh also recorded a somehow strange version of it. I believe it was released after he died (around 1987)
Big Daddy Kane did a rap version of it in 1990.
How many cover versions of "ain't no stopping us now" by Mc fadden & whitehaed are there?
- beautifull cover version by RISCO CONNECTION 1979 ( a true classic)
- the 1986 rap coverversion by JEFFREY STATEN
- I recently found a LATIN cover version by CHARANGA 76: NO NOS PARANGAN. (12" on TR records 19??) I really like this version!
(i found out that this is actually the Salsoul orchestra playing latin covers of song? is this true? Does anyone else has this song?)
- and i once heard a cover by those awfull Spice girls
are there more cover versions that you know about?
greets,

There is a new version on BBE by Larry Gold. More in an R'n'B style, didn't sound amazing to me.

You may be interested to know that McFadden & Whitehead effectively 'covered' themselves - 'Ain't No Stopping...' (Philly Eagles Version) came out on a small label in '78 and was re-done the following year for PIR, which was the international hit version. The original '78 version was re-released on TSOP in 1981.
What would you do without your muesli...where would you be without a bowl?
I have the Charanga 12"s and lp's but I never heard that they were actually the Salsoul Orchestra. Where did you hear this fact?
Nonkel --- if you like their cover of "Ain't No Stopping... " here's some more covers from them, all on TR:
GOOD TIMES (COMO VAMOS A GOZAR)
MUSIC TRANCE
MY FORBIDDEN LOVER (MI AMOR PROHIBIDO)
WE ARE FAMILY (SOMOS FAMILIA)
I have another cover-version:
Jocko: "Rhythm Talk"
This version is a "talk" from two dutch radio-DJs :D
I always thought Jocko was a Philly radio DJ. Perhaps you have another version. Anyhows, I hadn't posted this tune 'cos it ain't a cover version as such.
I'm sure Jocko wasn't Dutch, but from the good old land of the free - America. I also seem to remember the lyric of "Rhythm Talk" suggested that Jocko was born with an incredibly large penis. If this was the case then surely it would be unlikely that he was Dutch.

That's because the Eagles team of 1980 played in the Super Bowl of January 1981 (but lost). The song was also the official anthem of two other Philadelphia sports teams in 1980 (I believe the Phillies and Fliers). I like the 1979 version better. Why did the Eagles sing over the 1978 recording? The vocals of McFadden & Whitehead don't sound as good on the Phillies version, the music lacks spice, and the cheerleaders aren't exactly professional singers. But it must have worked well in the stadium and on TV.Originally Written by Forrrce
There's an infamous disco medley by Enigma called "Ain't No Stopping" that became a hit in Britain in 1981, the same year as the Stars on 45 and Startrax Disco medleys, and the first part of that is where they sing a short excerpt from "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now". Stars on 45 also did their own take on it in their "Groovin' On The Beat" medley.
In 1993 Biz Markie sang some new lyrics over the instrumentation for his song "Let Me Turn You On": "No way, no way for you to stop me now. I'm the kinda guy that can really turn you on... (etc.)"
I thought Charanga 76 and Risco Connection did a nice job with their covers of the song. And Charanga 76's "Music Trance" is awesome! Their take on "Good Times" is unusual. I can't wait to hear their versions of "We Are Family" and "My Forbidden Lover".
Sorry, it is a mistake from me
JOCKO is not dutch, it is DJ Doug "JOCKO" Henderson (1918-2000), born in Baltimore, radio-DJ in Philadelphia and New York.
There was also a not bad rap/dance cover of this done in 1999 by Mystah Monroe on Hi-Bias Records.
Yep, another cover version I really like, and doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet is:Originally Written by nonkel808
Ollie & Jerry - Breaking'... there's no stopping us now
...which came out in 1984 on the Polydor label.

nitro,
the ollie and jerry song is a totally different song than the mcfadden whitehead song
I'm either confused or I seem to have missed something then... what's different the lyrics? I always had the impression that at least the Ollie & Jerry song was inspired or based by/on the McFadden & Whitehead track... :-?Originally Written by 02tranzam

The Ollie & Jerry song had different lyrics, different melody and never had anything to do with Mcfadden & Whitehead.
It was more of a break dance anthem and was even featured on the "Breakin'" soundtrack in 1984.
Rumor has it that the Salsoul Orchestra, during a break while recording in the studio, did a jam session of a latin version of the classic Idris Muhammad's song "Could heaven ever be like this".Originally Written by NickNack
The sound engineer secretely recorded the track and the jam was pressed (under the name Charanga 76) on some bootlegs for a few djs to play. The feedback from the djs was so great that a follow up was needed. Then Charanga 76 was born, but they were not the Salsoul Orchestra anymore. John Ferrara did all the mixes
Talking of Charanga 76, there was another NY based group of session musicians who did covers of disco favourites such as Love Hangover called Touch. I read somewhere that Tom Moulton was behind this particular combo.
...ya gotta beat the street......
i tried finding charanga 76"s version of aint no stopping on cd but cant seem to find it are there any cd versions of them out there
yes 02tranzam in the triple c.d set disco forever on bbe records
I have a CD with Charanga 76's A.N.S.U.N. on; it's called 'Disco Forever- the sound of underground disco compiled by Dimitri From Paris' & its on BBE records. Its actually 3 CDs & includes some killer tracks by the likes of DC Larue (Cathedrals) & Brainstorm (We're On Our way Home). The packaging is nice too.
...ya gotta beat the street......
Steely - i have the Dimitri cd's as well. It really is a great compilation and probably the easiest way to get the Charanga 76 cut available.
it also has the stunning "Barely Breaking Even" by Universal Robot Band along with other gems. :)

I don’t know who started this rumor but doen't sound possible to me, Charanga ’76 was a Salsa/Charanga band formed in NYC (not Philly) with a huge string of Salsa hits like “Wanda” “Te vas come el viento” and probably their biggest hit “Soy” (I am) they toured Miami where I saw them perform many times in local Salsa Clubs, after they disbanded, Cuban lead singers Hansel Martinez and Raul Alfonso moved to Miami and formed the famous Salsa group “Hansel y Raul”, they recorded many Albums in the late 70’s and 80’s full of hits and are one the best known names in the Salsa world, in the 90’s they reunited to performed again but don’t know if they are still active today.
I use to spin “No nos pararan”, “Good times” plus all the other hits, but local Miami radios overplayed these songs and besides you could catch them live locally on any given weekend back then.
I don’t know why Dimitri’s “Disco Forever” inserts states “Research into the groups identities and origins have proved fruitless… ” they even credit vocals to H. Martinez and R.A Alfonso on the insert, a simple Goggle search reveals lots of info on the group including Bernie’s Vault’s mention of their NYC origins, in any case, I just opened Dimitri’s not to long ago and I can’t help falling in love with this song all over again…it is refreshing to hear once again real musicians playing real instruments, what a foreign concept this days..
PS. A little Trivia, Boxing Champ Macho Camacho even in the late 80’s used to walk in the booth and ask me to play McFadden’s version, he even used this song in many his fight’s introductions..
