In the UK in 1980 it did get some disco action it charted in Record Mirror Magazine's 'Pop Dance' chart i.e pop/rock tunes that get heavily rotated in nightclubs but didnt make their main 'Club Chart'.
This is a pure pop song that had a subtle hint of disco it was kind of the signpost to the Stock/Aitken/Waterman sound that would've dominated the UK chart later in the decade.
