The original lead singer Liz doesn't appear with the group any more so it looks like Maizie has taken her place, much like how Valerie replaced Sheila in the 3 Degrees.
Interesting article:

Nice to see they're still touring and performing their hits.

...ya gotta beat the street......
Interestingly Boney M are making waves in the clubs again thanks to a sample being used in the new Duck Sauce single called 'Barbara Streisand'!
Ma Baker was used for Lady GaGa's Poker Face.
glad to see Boney M (or at least a version of ...) still bringing their great music to the masses ! On Sundays, one of the bars down here in New Orleans often plays the Boney M megamix (of which I particularly love !)
Ah, but Liz Mitchell DOES tour with Boney M, still! There are at least 2 Boney Ms going round (plus the Russian fakes), and the one with Liz is the one and only original. Saw them perform for c 4 000 screaming stomping fans (yes, the band was massive in my country during the 70s and new generations love them just as much it seems - the crowd was 50/50 oldtimers/club kids). No Bobby but a lot of Liz, no pun intended. And the show was great and the band was HOT!!!
Liz must've changed her mind then, because there was a TV show here a couple of years ago where they were trying to reform the original Boney M & they called at Liz's posh house in the country & she refused point blank to get involved.
...ya gotta beat the street......
Wouldn't the real original Boney M be just Frank Farian?
Indeed she did. However, I read that the very first Boney M single was entirely Farian; even the "female" backing vocals were just him singing falsetto!
All the former members of Boney M are touring with "their" Boney M although Liz Mitchell's is the only official one! Boney M was Frank Farian, later joined by Marcia Barrett and Liz Mitchell. Maizie Williams and Bobby Farrell never sung on the recorded tracks. And don't forget Claudja Barry who was a member in the period 1975-1976.
Boney M 1 feat. Liz
Boney M 2 feat. Bobby
And a great clip feat. Bobby & Gilla. She's also still touring and is very popular in Germany and Eastern Europe
The real Boney M with Liz is a very surprising act to see now. In addition to the expected hits that they deliver with infectious vigour they belt out badass party tunes, and the band really gets down. And Liz is good singer, she did a few solo numbers practically a cappella.

I kinda like this remake:
"Because there's music in the air."
Ah I see Bruno brought up the fact I was just thinking about. I find it kind of funny that Milli Vannilli got in supreme horse puckies for being fake singers yet Boney M was never accused of lipsyncing when both groups male vocals were all done by Frank Farian. Hmmmm...
Btw, what ever happenned to the guy that was brought in to replace Bobby Farrell?

Farian didn't sing on MV's records, IIRC it was all session musicians.
But Boney M went largely unnoticed in the USA (except, somewhat inexplicably, their Christmas album). Milli Vanilli were huge, probably far more successful than anyone involved expected, and won a Grammy. Americans seem to value authenticity (or at least a convincing illusion of it) in pop music. It didn't help that at the height of their fame, in a classic case of why-you-should-never-go-in-front-of-the-mic-when-you're-high-on-coke, one of them went on a talk show and claimed that they had better songs than Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones. Talk like that is blasphemy to many people, who view classic rawk as something akin to sacred hymns.
one of the co-writers of Girl You Know was Ky Adeyemo, a member of Starpoint. The original was performed by act called Numarx...I only recently heard the Numarx version for the first time.
Farian also had a lot of success with La Bouche in 90's... who can forget Sweet Dreams, Be My Lover, SOS.... some rather big club Eurodance hits with crossover pop success
Barbra Streisand is Number 1 in Europe and is climbing the dance charts in America.

Look at the video with the DJ going through the old skool records.
Go Boney M!
