Almost certain it was 1979.
Can anyone tell me the year that the Simon Soussan-produced group Romance released their lp? I'm not sure of the title, something like "Dance Your Way Into My Heart."

Hi Bernie and Discodjinn,
The import of "Dance My Way to Your Heart" on Barclay was released in 1978. The domestic on Prism is 1979.

Hey Nicky,
Where is your Barclay import from? I've got a Canadian copy on Barclay, but it sounds absolutely horrid, with really bad distortion all over. Does the Prism release sound okay?

I think all the Barclay releases I have sound pretty bad. Must be their trademark or something.

The import that I have is on red vinyl and in a very flimsy outer sleeve. Could those factors be the cause of the poor sound quality? Bernie, Graham and Nicky, are your copies similarly pressed and packaged?
The Canadian pressing is on normal black vinyl. I don't know about French Barclay releases, but my Canadian Barclay copies of Love And Kisses as well as various Patrick Juvet albums sound reasonably good.

Hi Graham,
Mine is from France and although it's not horrid, it's not great either. The Prism release is much cleaner, not as muffled in the bottom frequencies. Also, unless my 1200's are giving me the blues, the Prism version is either spinning a little faster or it's quanitized up. Or, it could be my ears and the fact that it's better pressed makes it sound different to me. Sorry, my technical ear is not that discerning.

Hey Keefe,
Like Graham's, my French copy is also on black vinyl. The jacket is the 'normal' type with the only difference being the shades of brown they use for color.

But hey folks, how do you like the music on this album? I love it! The singer has a high voice like Anita Ward and it is very well arranged music. Especially I like "Glad I Met You". Did Romance do any other music? Any alternate versions? What else did Simon Soussan do?
By the way, my Prism release of this album sounds great quality. Only slight surface sound at one point, but due to the previous owner I believe.
He also did "Panic" by French Kiss. I love that one!!!!! By the way, "Dance My Way Into Your Heart" by Romance is available on CD, if you're interested.

I agree the Romance album has a couple of good tracks. The group's songs fall a bit on the bubblegum side. I too noticed the Pattie Brooks' "After Dark" family resemblence as well as the Anita Ward one. Sometimes the vocals, as with Arpeggio, could grate. Where did I read (maybe Jussi's book) that the vocalist could come across like a dentist's drill?!
Yeah, I think the Arpeggio female vocalist coached Denyse Lepage for her sonic assuaults on my eardrums. Anyway, Denyse outdid her teacher, IMHO.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Yeah, I looked at the Arpeggio LP last night and I guess the female vocalist was Jessica Williams, although these vocals sound nothing like her solo "Queen Of Fools". Who had her singing in the Anita Ward/Denyse LePage/Minnie Riperton range and why???
Of those High, high, high soprano voices--the most pleasing were Minnie's and Deniece Williams's, IMHO.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Hello Markydefad!
I do agree with you about soprano vocals. Deniece Williams and Minnie Riperton seemed to be able to convey a wider range of emotion without the grating qualities. There's a track on the Dazzle lp where Jocelyn Brown's husky voice is-- heaven help us-- speeded up into Williams' range.
French Kiss - Panic was one of my favorite LP's on Polydor when it was released.

Love and Desire - Arpegio was the hit record by the group's producer, but French Kiss - Panic to whom I thought had the better hit.
Does anyone remember two, different album covers that Arpegio had with their initial release?
