Thumbs up ... And now the Three Degrees remastered CD...

    Hi:

OK folks, it is still possible to believe that remastering a CD from the original tapes do not always produce bad sound quality.

Analyzing with Cool Edit Pro (randomly choosing the track "When Will I See You Again") you can understand when the signal level is not clipped.

See below and understand by yourself:

Now you can believe... it is possible. Yes!

Wow...this is like turning into the Steve Hoffman Forums! ;-)

Sometimes I wish people would just use their ears instead of their eyes when it comes to judging audio and mastering. But that waveform indeed looks very, very good. Approaches 0db with ample dynamics intact. Thumbs up.

Now...the EQ could sound like crap, or it could be a needledrop...you wouldn't be able to tell that from looking at a waveform. Which is why I say "ears" not "eyes".

It's the other way around if you've followed the Gloria Gaynor thread where DiscoMusic.com member Ricardo Hessel was kind enough to warn fellow members about the horrible sound of the "Never Can Say Goodbye" CD. It was AFTER he heard the poor sound that he decidd to check the waveform to confirm what he heard. This Three Degrees was just a continuation of that topic.

    Dear RobbaDobba:

    And I did.

Be shure I used my ears before my eyes. As a matter of fact I just checked visually the waveform only after my ears realized that was something wrong as I was listening to the Gloria Gaynor's Never Can Say Goodbye remastered CD. (please check here: http://www.discomusic.com/forums/sho...ak-Records-but...)

Rest assured, I usually "hear" music, not "see."

    Cheers,
    Cheers,
    Hessel

Relax, guys...just venting an opinion about people who live and die by waveforms FIRST. Not pointing fingers at anyone in particular. I work with waveforms all day for a living. All I'm saying is what you hear and what you might see are two different things. But, in some cases they match...as in the Gaynor mess.
